I hope you have heard from your sister by now. The power is stil out in Laurence Harbor and it is not known when it will be back. I can tell you the area by Shoreland Circle did well.

she is on McKinley ave about seven or eight houses from the beach. no word from her, her spouse or daughter as of yet, tho i did find a drug store open five or so blocks away. heard that all of Laurence Harbor is full of downed trees and has no power, and the nice man at the drugstore didn't have any other info other then the marina is a mess with the boats all over the place in stacks.

I am trying to get in touch with my cousin, Carol Resanovich, who lives in Laurence Harbor. I have tried Red Cross, Office of Emergencies Service and several shelters. If anyone knows of any service that is checking on the elderly, please let me know how to contact them.

Louise, I spoke with my brother this morning about that section of Laurence Harbor. As far as he knows it did not flood.

You are welcome Louise, I hope I could bring you and your family some peace. I grew up in the Harbor and it breaks my heart what has happened there and all along the east coast. I pray your cousin is able to contact you soon.

Judi, Thanks for your concern. I arrived home last nite to find a letter from Carol. She is well but has no power or phone service. The police had been there to check on her and told her to get in touch with me. She reports that they are only allowed to purchase of one gal of gas at a time so running generators and getting supplies is difficult.

spoke to my sister, they now have food, but still no power. most parts of LH did not flood as there is a 30 foot embankment that protected them. Bridge is ruined, but the embankment held. lots of trees down, lots of wind damage, no flooding and no power. Drugstore near McKinley ave is open as well.

mostly there lots of down trees and my sister only got power last night. flooding missed them due to the 30 foot embankment and bridge, but the bridge is toast.

hope it helps. also they do have a working drugstore in the area, tho the gas stations are empty as are the food stores.

Thank you Louise, We are anxious to hear from them. Wondering if the house is still standing there and is livable.

I was raised on Harbor Way and lived through many a hurricane! Usually the Shoreland Circle area and what we called the presidents section always did well with no flooding. What we called Paul's Beach at the bottom of the hill near the Viking Marina always got wiped out. Also some houses below hywy 35 towards the swamp always flooded also.
I was worried this time even though I had moved away. My prayers to all in the damaged areas.

Linda, do you know whether the houses on the other side of HWY 35 on Delray Place got flooded? That is where my aunt's home is. And how they are looking now?

sandy did not destroy laurence harbor the people that live there destroyed it,many many years ago. it looks like yucca flats after the blast!and there building a 25 million dollar morgan bridge over a junk-yard they call a marina.the people that were born in laurence harbor live like the people in the bottom`s of mississippi.
