Do you remember the old Wooden Trestle (Train Station) Next to Emilys store on First Street? Wow , Haven't thought about that in a long time. I also Have great memories of my fathers Raft that he built for the neighborhood kids out in the bay...Union beach! We had an underground fort in the field in front of Bradleys/Stop & Shop in the summer of 78-79. Hell we had forts all over the place back then.

I THINK I HAVE YOU BOTH THERE, I GRADUATED FROM KHS IN 1949. I STILL THINK OF MY YEARS AT KHS AS A TIME THAT STANDS OUT IN MY LIFE. PLAYED FOR TUFFY BAKER. AS TALLASASSEE SAYS, LIFE WAS SIMPLER THEN, AND ALLOWED US TO ENJOY OUR TEENS AT A TIME FREE FROM TURMOIL

I agree. My Father was a WWII Vet and I am a Gulf War Vet. I would sit up with him for hours listening to his story's. The world has become way to complicated for me. I love my Country, Work hard and try my best to be a good father. For me that is enough.

I wish it was enough, but they have our Children. They are being reeducated in the government schools to hate their country and its leaders to loath Christianity and all it stands for. I combat the lefts teachings each day with my kids but sorry to say, most parents’ don’t communicate well with their children.

YOU ARE RIGHT ON THE MONEY AGAIN. IF YOU THINK THE LOWER GRADES ARE UNDER FIRE, OUR COLLEGES ARE RUN BY THE LEFT WHO WANT TO TURN THEIR BRAINS TO MUSH AND BELIVE WHAT THEY ARE SPEWING. YOU ARE TO BE RESPECTED FOR YOUR EFFORTS TO 'RE-EDUCATE' YOUR CHILDREN. DON'T GIVE UP!

I used to hang out in Lockport with my friends. The people who live down on and around Cedar Street and that general area are up in arms with developers. The developers feel the area should be dozed down and replaced with condos on the water. It has been in the courts for awhile. The Bradley's/Stop & Shop are gone now. It's vacant. As far as the field before it, we used to call it the farmer's field. If he caught you taking the short cut on his property to the store, he would shoot at you with buck shot. What good times. I left there in 1981. We lived on Poole Ave.

Mrs. Walling, I am glad to report, is alive and well. She is very active in the community and in the Historical Society in Keyport. The little school has been restored and is the town Senior Center now. Keyport is still a wonderful place!

Yes Keyport lady, I am sure Keyport is still a wonderful place. Not a day goes by that I do not have a pleasent memory of Keyport. Speaking of teachers, one of my favorites in KHS was Mrs Nolan. She taught biology, and always had a great sense of humor. I believe she lived on First Street. Anyone know if she is still well?

Keyport is still wonderful. I'm away at college now but I miss being back in the 'Port. Us Keyport kids are still a little different than everyone else, a lot closer and take care of eachother. We all love our town. Mrs Walling retired a few years ago, but she was there when I went to school at Keyport Central.

I remember that fort. Those were the days of sex, drugs and rock & roll, although not always in that order. Sometimes my thoughts drift back to those days with a smile I can't explain. It's cool to know someone else remembers. All the best!

Hello Mr. or Ms. Sultan,

Not sure who you are, but youve caught my attention. Ive read some of your posts and think you present informed, well-written opinions that capture your pride in Jersey, Monmouth County and Keyport.

Keep posting. You bring good energy to these excellent forums of connections.

You spelled it wrong, but your second comment accessed an obscure reference that at one time held some truth. If you know that, Im intrigued.
