This is such a uplifting story that there are still people around that care of other humans. God rest your soul Donald Owens, you can not go to rest in peace. I do hope they can find some information on the other two men.

Private Owens' dogtags weren't found first but later after JPAC went to the site to recover the remains. Mr. Gerard Louis discovered the ID bracelet of Corp. Judge C. Hellums, my uncle, first in 2003 that lead to the discoverery of the Hellums family who visited the site in Sept. of 2006 when JPAC was working the site. The silver bracelet had been a gift to Judge from his finance, Martha, before heading overseas. From this find, the remains and dogtags of the other two men who were killed in that tank in 1944 with Judge were recovered. Judge was brought back home and laid to rest in North Mississippi last Oct. 9, 66 years to the day of his death. Our family is very thankful to Mr. Louis, along with Roland Prieur, Jérôme Leclerc, and Edouard Reniere who all played an important role in locating the families and bringing closure after all these years.

Glad they were able to bring him home! This is a case of "doing what you hope others would do for you" and a family finally has answers about their loved one because of it. Hopefully someday the other 2 men who were with him can be identified too so their families can have closure as well.

Thank you to those involved & may God bless you!

3 people have been forgotten to thank, of paramount importance and without them this story would never have existed
Mr. JCPignon the reporter who wrote at the request of Mr. Louis's first story. Ms. Rivet (France) and Mrs. Smith (Illinois) for their research
