Hope all is well with the residents of downtown fire. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. It is sad to see such destruction to our downtown businesses. Hopefully something is being done to help the displaced residents. Business owners its now time to pick up the pieces and start anew.

My bro was on the roof and had to jump to another, but he's okay thankfully. I feel so bad that Tony's Pizza is gone. It's one of only two places I make sure to go (Jrecks is the other) when I come home to visit. I miss those calzones already.

I heard that the man that lived in one of the apt.s above tonys pizza fell asleep with a lit cig. and his dog knocked the cig over and thats how the fire started its a sad thing people could have been hurt badly and now massena has less to offer. Good news is that I heard tonys is moving to the rusty wheel dont know how true it is but i hope so

Actually there were welders on the 2nd floor and sparks caused the fire. My brother was putting up some type of sheetrock from what I understand. There were several people up there doing work. I got a voicemail from him earlier today but haven't had a chance to speak with him yet.

I heard that upstairs there was a meth lab that started the fire in the unoccupied apartment. It has been said there will not be a reason cited for the fire other than it started in the hallway.

I don't know who New Yorker is, lol. But MY brother was on the roof. I talked to him yesterday. There was no party, no meth lab, and no one fell asleep with a cigarette. A bunch of work/construction was being done and it seems welding was the cause. Kelly (owner of Tony's) had received a revitalization grant, as did several downtown business owners, and had been remodeling the apartments upstairs. She did rent out the front of the Rusty Wheel for six months, and was able to save a lot of things from the restaurant. There was only water damage to the actual restaurant, no fire damage.
