Ya thats right the school board fires him..he gets paid the remainder of his contract and then they hire a new interim superintendant. More money against the taxpayer..you wait and see how the next couple years go, say what you will about Clough but our taxes have gone down and noone has lost their job. Might be inconvenient to move around from school to school but people still have jobs. I guarantee in a couple years the school district will fall apart lay off teachers and taxes will SOAR!!All for what so ONE ROBIN WOLPIN can have her way. Enjoy it Massena you will get what you wished for!
My taxes haven't dropped a dime. People still have jobs? Thirty teachers were laid off in the 2009-10 school year, another 35 during '10-'11. Given the state's projected budget, more will be canned next year. I don't know this Karen but I'd say the issue has nothing to do with her.

What would randy say?
Which Randy? If it's the Randy who left here to head the Lake Placid district...guess you haven't heard. They're pushing him out up there big time! Wonder why? Is he from the same "management school" as Clough? BTW did Clough ever actually get hired in this school system and have his own classroom...I mean did he ever get beyond substitute teaching before he flew along the fast track to principal and superintendent? Shame on those who made his path easy-big disservice to the district. Messes wherever he has served. The programs he claims credit for? The brainwork of many others NOT him. Just saying...

Jeesh get your story straight it is not the same Randy and the Randy you are talking about never worked for massena central school. He is a great guy and did not go to the same management school as Clough. There have been 4 superintendents in 5 years up there the one before him only lasting 7 months, he has lasted the longest 3 years. There are alot of issues up there and it is not with the Superintendents. Very political community and from some of the staff that really liked him, they said he was instructed to make changes that he was directed to do by the BOE and of course he is the one taking the heat for it, that is why the previous BOE stood by him because they knew the truth. Don't always believe everything you read in the paper, things get twisted or not quite how it was.

I stand by my claim that Randy Richards and Roger Clough have very similar management styles. Google "Randy Richards Lake Placid" and you can read about it yourself. On 6/28 he announced he was leaving-only after the BOE there refused to renew his contract. He lost an EEOC complaint by the middle-high school principal (who won her claim) that he committed "gender discrimination, retaliation and created a hostile work environment." Sound familiar Massena? He apologized-sort of-by saying about Principal Katherine Mulderig- that he needed someone "bitchier" to manage the "bitchy" teachers at Lake Placid Elementary. A petition signed by 600 locals (sizable # compared to the district population) requested his ouster. That does not happen without a reason! Add to this comments re bullying in another article at Google. This includes an underlying intimidation before the budget vote which implied programs would be lost (which means kids ultimately lose) if the budget went down. On and on go the comparisons as to management style. Just saying...

I just need to clarify some misinformation and comments about Dr Richards. I.am an employee of.lake placid school and.have been for the last twenty years. I have seen a lot.od superintendents come.and go and I can tell you that Dr. Richards by far has accomplished the most and lasted the longest.of the last three. This is a tough community. I have friends in massena and they asked me what was going on because his name was mentioned on topix. To clarify some thongs. The letter in the paper was letting us know that the new boe members that just got on would not.be renewing his contract. So no he did not.resign secondly he did not.lose the eeoc complaint. He was not found guilty it never went to.court. it.stated.there was probable cause to pursue.lawsuit. based solely on what she.said doesn't mean it was true. Why do u think she settled.and.was fired.from.her position. A directive.by the previous board by the way. She was retaliating because she knew she was going.to be fired as she was an ineffective principals and also.she forgot.to mention.that when they had the private conversation that was suppose.to be confidential she called the teachers bitchy also. Let me guess you haven't ever.said.anything.between coworkers.that was suppose to be confidential. He was a great.superintendent and very respectful to staff. A lot.of.us r going to miss his leadership. I just wanted.to clarify some.of the misconceptions.

Well first of all it was circulated around town and got tourist off the streets to sign it. Did not recognize alot of the signatures. People from Saranac Lake signed it also that had nothing to do with the school. Another words like the BOE said it did not hold much water because it was not the taxpayers and community members from Lake Placid that signed well over half of the signautes. Again I guess you would have to work here to know the whole truth and story not what you perceive it to be from reading in the papers. You have your few community member like Massena that raise a stink. There have been know staff members that have complained about Dr. Richards at all except for the one principal that had an axe to grind way before Dr. Richards got their.

No complaints? It's called fear of retaliation-a well known bully tactic in the workplace. It's been a very effective tool used by Massena's Supt. wherever he was assigned in the district. Makes everything look just fine. Between that and buying the loyalty of special friends working for the district he covers all bases. The amount of money doled out last year while the district was on contingency...shame on the Board Of Ed for approving these personnel action items passing out stipends to his pals while teachers who were due stipends for extra curricular appts. were stiffed. He's a real gem!

You sure do have a lot of time to post now that you don't have a job Rebecca. You'd think someone as valuable as you think you are would have employers lining up for you...
