there are 2 senators per state. there are 29 representatives to the house, and they don't get paid nearly as much as the senators.

If NYS is willing to pay a New York senator $174,000 per year plus fringe benefits, why are there tears about paying a police officer $100,000 per year? I believe NYS has 26(?) senators. Police officers put their lives on the line and must deal with many psychological stressors that come with the job. People complain about police officers but are the first to call them when in need of assistance. If you feel a strong urge to protest something, anything......focus your efforts on high gas prices and sending jobs overseas. These are a couple of challenges worth protesting. As time passes and the public becomes increasingly aware that jobs may not return and there is no economic recovery we may need even greater numbers of police officers. We may need the military, especially in our cities.

Listen its everyone who pays taxes in our villages problem, this is way to high and needs to be addressed. I am sorry you feel that way but some of us who care about the future of this village and what the cost of our overpaid protection is going to be down the road have a concern. its not just salaries its medical, its retirements we pay for it long after they retire there lazy asses.

College professors have to carry guns and fight with scum. A bad day for a college professor is squirting ketchup on his tie. A police officer may have to tell a parent their child was just killed in a car accident. No comparisons here at all. Don't be jealous. Just find a job for yourself that makes good money. If you have brains, become a professor. If you have brawn and common sense, become a police officer. If you are dumb and afraid of confrontation, who's fault is that? And yes, thank you...I would like fries with that!

Just Do it,

I have to say your afraid, if your a cop or retired then you feel you were overpaid and are fighting back with words that are meaningless, sorta shows our educational difference. I am well paid and am very happy where I am at, you have issues as can be determined by your response. Jealous no, upset yes, they are just not worth it I am sorry, a bunch of thugs making that sort of money should be ashamed. There is plenty to compare, I fear though you are not capable of such comparitive responses, I think I am safe to say your an idiot with issues regarding police salaries. My issue is simple they make to much for what they do, for the education vs work vs equitable companasation.

Aww. Again, sounding jealous. You think your education automatically allows you to earn more. Wrong. I do have a 4 year degree, but that really doesn't matter because I can honestly say it wasn't very helpful. Cops seem to make good money but compared with their jobs it seems fair. I would have liked to have become one and know many that are. I actually have my own business and do quite well, thank you. Not because of my education but because of my hard work, honesty, and the guts to risk my money. You are the problem with the economy. You think that because you spent money on an education that society owes you a living and just because a cop doesn't have a Masters Degree that he doesn't deserve a higher pay than you. You had that same opportunity he did to apply for his position. You chose another direction. Don't hate them for making their decisions.

Their wage and benefit package are out of control. We as a village can no longer afford it. It cost 3 million dollars to hire a local cop. Our roads are disaster areas. Cut their budget in half so we as a village can survive.

Yeah, but you gotta get a four year degree first. Plus there hasn't been a SP academy class in a couple of years - no money in the state budget
