i did see in the malone telegram that alcoa hired the telegrams sports reporter. they had a picture on the back page of him resigning saying he was headed to his new job monday at alcoa. I thought that was interesting, news reporter, experience potroom. But he does have a father in law and brother in law that work there.

They did hire 20 people that started the 28th of march. unfortunatly for many they are taking care of family first. So if you dont have family there it will be harder to get hired.

Sad but true, I haven't heard anything about anyone starting, though its probably true. Even if you got family in there, its only the ones that suck off their supervisors. My father put in 38 years, my uncle put in 40, my grandfather put in 25. Oh well.

Well, at the interview I was told there is also going to be about 40 positions coming up sometime closer or during the summer at Alcoa West, and there's always the hope some of the people they hired don't work out or can't handle the job.

The hiring process was quite a process, they had (sterling) do the process. They called and checked on everything they called an employer i worked for 15 years ago, don't even know if the company still is around but they called me several times to get different numbers for the company. The sterling people are or sounded like middle eastern or asian people. They called all my references and from what they told me u could hardley understand or here them. It was the same for me when i talked to them. It's kind of embarrising that they called every past employer i listed for the last 15 years. It's funny i've been messing around with this since i took the test in january. Must be desperate for a 30,000 dollar a year job.

They need to start hiring people that are willing to actually work. NOT their candy-ass relatives that think they don't have to pull their weight, and
THEN strut around town like they are top-dawg!

Well as said, made it through the application, the testing, and the interview, but just got my "Fuck Off" letter from them today. So I'm sure others will get it. Oh well, my guess is within 5 years or less they'll close the East Plant for good. West Plant will remain because of the power is too sweet of a deal to pass up.
