@Carl, it's been 3 1/2 months, definitely not 7-8. I'm not defending the time its taken. It certainly seems it should have been over long ago. But, there has to be some logical reasoning. Whether its botched, they're taking their time, or something else, there has to be SOME reason.

This murderer should come forward. He is probably smiling and thinking I got away with this.

In the case of this I notice that everyone is consumed with the "who". I want to know that too BUT I think i'm more curious to the "why" and "how". I'd like to know what the motivation was behind this. I almost feel like this may be something you would see on Dateline NBC......I should email them. I bet they would be highly interested in this unsolved case.

I whole hardly wish that they would catch this monster whoever he/she is. I hear things on a daily basis right now about the Oxley trial #3 I might add. But yet this poor young boy and his family are suffering greatly and no one has been held accountable for this horrific act. I wasn't there when it happened so I don't know what happened. But thats why there are professionals that are suppose to figure these things out. This is one of those cases I have no complaints about my tax dollars going to. But instead they all seem to be going to this damn Oxley trial.(And I don't have a problem with Oxley getting another day in court. However I have a problem with all my tax dollars going to pay a private attorney when other people are getting stuck with public defenders who half the time don't know what they are doing!!) Let's get real here and give Garrett some justice!!!

I'd be glad to hear an update on any "persons of interest" or formal suspects. They must at least have a person of interest.

They say they have a person of interest but even 31/2 months come on and like someone else pointed out Tischler leaving and as I said the longer they wait, the harder it is to convict. I believe to much time has already passed. I can,t help thinking of poor Garret and what he went through that last day of his life here on earth. And Dam it yes it makes me mad along with I,am sure most of the rest of us.No one has heard anything about this case and it is just terrible.Sometimes it makes me wonder if it was another classmate as the police have said they were pretty sure that this person of interest would not leave the area.

first off let me clear something up for you....it was my house not Ed's...yes we share the same last name...

I sold the house on a land contract and the buyers never paid a lick of taxes in 3 years...so my name was in the paper as a foreclosure by the county for unpaid taxes...i paid the taxes, got the house back in my possession and sued the buyers and won my case!

gossip mongers like you are pathetic!!

Why is it being said "the killer" will not kill again? Is that because they are in prison or dead or something? It is really hard to think that an arrest in this crime is going by the wayside. If so much is known about the murderer and that it is being said they will not do it again then why are they then not being publicly being charged? Sounds fishy to me!

Just saying it was in the newspaper and it is public for everyone to read!

1st off u spelled his name wrong...2nd off, the police do NOT advise the public about their findings and confidential info about the case.

if they had solid proof that person would be in jail w/o bail...and youre naive to think the investigation is being handled by the ppd...cases like this are handed to the NYS BCI...

considering the limited info...who tf do u arrest? he was alone! no one saw a thing! and the cause of death is unknown...

if the cause of death is unknown, then its not murder, if its not murder then you cant arrest ANYONE for murder...

its sad yes and everyone wants to know what happened...but sometimes life is real...he had no marks, bruises or scratches on his body.

its not like nicole simpson...NO ONE would ever expect an innocent 12 year old boy with NO enemies living a respectful life to die let alone murder in a little village called potsdam...

its devastating for the family to lose their child and even harder not having an answer as to why or how...everyone would like to know...unless someone says i murdered garrett...its just an unfortunate accident...there is simply no evidence or motive...

you can not hold the police chief responsible for not having a crystal ball...im sorry but when you weigh the circumstances it points to accidental...

you and others are experiencing the grief process and youre in the angry phase of denial...the 5th and last step is acceptance...

placing blame on a respectable member of the community who has served the people for almost 30 years unblemished...not to mention the family's reputation is irrational, unfair and just plain wrong

his retirement was something he had planned long before this happened to Garrett...he isnt moving anywhere and his new job is working for a firm from Syracuse as a Private Detective...that alone speaks for itself

stop watching re runs of detective shows

The person that found him should automatically be a person of interest. Go back and read their story. They claimed they heard a scream and the sounds of a book case crashing over.( This while watching tv of course) There is a difference between just hearing a loud sound and then making a loud sound description. Thats all I am going to say about that. I'm not pointing fingers but you have to admit that is slightly suspicious.

Here is a peice of the story that was reported:

The neighbor, Sean M. Hall, said he was watching television with his fiancee, Marissa Vogel, when they heard what he described as a bookshelf falling, followed by a yell. Ms. Vogel called the police shortly after.

"It sounded like a woman would scream when she saw a mouse," Mr. Hall said, adding he thought it was just the boys who lived there horseplaying. "But then I heard a moaning for help. The walls are really thin."

When Mr. Dumas and the officer entered the apartment, he said the boy was lying unconscious on the floor near a wall. He and the officer performed CPR but were not able to able to revive the boy before emergency crews arrived. The boy was taken to Canton-Potsdam Hospital, where he died at 7:18 p.m.

St. Lawrence County Coroner June H. Wood said she is in the process of scheduling an autopsy and hopes to have a cause of death by Thursday.

"There were no cuts or bruises of any type. Any marks on him were minimal," Ms. Wood said. "I'm baffled."

So the neighbor heard a scream that sounded like a woman when they see a mouse but thought it was just the boys that lived there horse playing........untill he heard moaning for help.....he added the walls were very thin because how would someone hear a moaning over a television. I could understand hearing a shreak but not a moan for help. Also....what about the description of the book shelf sound....why wouldn't it be a dressor maybe. What specifially made it sound like that.

"There were no cuts or bruises of any type. Any marks on him were minimal," Ms. Wood said. "I'm baffled."

Lets talk about this....there were no cuts or bruises of any type but any marks on him were minimal so which is it? Were there marks or were there not marks and if you are referencing minimal marks that aren't cuts and bruises what kind of marks were there? Where were they since they couldn't be seen on the face or legs.....
