again someone who doesnt have their facts straight. this creep lunged at the police officers with the knife. the other cop who was killed WALKED up the yard with the rifle at his SIDE. there was no immediate danger to the MTA cop. the kid had already been shot b4 the ESU unit arrived. we can all sit in our chairs and offer our critique but in the end no one knows what they would do if faced with this situation. it is a sad situation all around. supposedly a retired NYPD who lives in the area yelled GUN when officer breitkopf arrived on scene and the MTA cop not noticing the badge shot him.

If he was in the house, and they evacuate the parents why didn't they tear gas him, I guess its just easier to kill people. Were there any witness to the actual shooting or did the police make sure the weren't?, We dont know what happen really, If the kid lunged at the cop or cops with a knife or knives(how many knives can one person hold at a time?)and he was within 4 to 5 feet of the cop, well Im sorry but he musta knew they were gonna shoot him, no one wants to be stabbed, even people who carry guns, its a hard call, it will be investigated, surely, the details will come out later. Every one wants a happy ending, To hear the cops subdued a knife wielding crazy kid and no one got hurt, would have made the cops look like brave heroes with the nutty kid in custody or in the nut house, yes that would have been a happy ending, this mess leaves everyone wondering and sad.

the kid had the knives attached by chains to his body. except the one he went after the cops with. in regards to the 5 feet thing' thats supposedly how close the MTA cop was to the cop he shot. again like i said its easy for us to critique the situation but we dont know what we would do if faced with this. it is sad for the loss of life but lets not forget this guy anthony asked for this by his erratic behavior. the cop who died didnt deserve this at all. just a shame.

Anthony was a good kid, no doubt Nassau Cops were quick to fire a gun and shoot Anthony no need for that type of violence Tony only had a knife. They evacuated his parents and Anthony was in his room. Cops could have done many many other things, tear gas, pepper spray works from 60' away, call in hostage neg, rubber bullets, Taser that work from 30 40 feet away.
Now the MTA cop, that was justified, a guy dresses in black with a riffle running up to this house I would have shot him too. Nassau Cops over paid and under worked.
Really- the Nassau Police were quick to fire a gun? Of course they were they had a lunatic lunging at them with knives. Anthony laid out his own fate that day by the choices he made. Running around the neighborhood with knives strapped to him and an S&M mask jumping on an elderly ladies car and stabbing the car. This isn't normal behavior and this doesn't sound like a good "kid" to me even though he is a man. Lunging at cops with two knives above his head. I think the polic were justified. This wasn't a hostage situation. He was in his bedroom by himself. He was holding no one hostage. Since you have no respect for cops don't call one when you need one.

i firmly believe that if that retired{retarded} cop wasnt at the scene trying to be a hero, officer breitkopf would be alive today. that retired NYPD sgt should have known better than to get involved in a situation that was NONE of his business. he should stick to his new line of work unarmed security guard.the shame of it all is that a cop is dead and the MTA cop has to deal with that for the rest of his life. What a damn shame. lives ruined because of 2 idiots. the lunatic and the retarded NYPD SGT!!!

To me it sounds like the retired cop cdidnt know his place....shouldnt have been there...was asked to leave and defied the authority. then his actions caused the death of a special operations officer who was called to the scene of course the 7th precinct cops were expecting him but MTA wouldnt and the man not minding his own business yells GUN in an already chaotic scene. What a shame. I have heard alot about this kid from people who knew him. It seems that he was troubled but a harmless kid. but the cops could not have known that. He was a danger to them and others dressed with weapons upp and down and jumping on cars. soooo sad

Nassau County Police handled this entire situation wrong. The facts are Anthony locked him self in his bedroom of the parents home. Cops escorted the parents out of the home and the parents said he is emotionaly disturbed and maybe off his medication. The Nassau Police advised Anthiny come out or they were comming in after him. The Police were making comands to a kid who was unable to think properly or for himself.

The Nassau Police needed to wait for help before that tried knocking the door down. This kid may have been thinking Cops were deamons or flying birds attacking him, this poor kid had disabilitys and cops were to quick and to fast to make an arrest.

Cops didn't knock down the door to get him. He came out voluntarily and attempted to attack an officer with a hunting knife. He was properly shot and killed.

Get your facts straight before you judge.

Heroin in schools, low life parents and assorted screw balls of every ilk! Just ride around the neighbor hood and check out the garish properties??

Nut who yells "fire" in a crowded theater. What do you expect?? Crazy kid with knives, and a fat retired lunatic who should be arrested for the havoc he caused at the scene
