Cutting of pastor's role called 'vindictive'

Full story: Newsday

For 32 years, the Rev. Robert E. Mason celebrated a children's Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes in Massapequa Park that attracted a loyal following among some families at the ultraconservative parish.

With all of this that was stated, why are we still waiting for the "suspended" Traditional Mass to be returned to Our Lady of Lourdes???

The old Tridentine rite was never actually abolished, but local bishops had to grant approval for a priest to say the Mass. Benedict's ruling authorizes parish priests to celebrate the Tridentine rite if a "stable group of faithful" requests it, without needing their bishop's permission. It also permits the old rite for weddings, funerals and other liturgical proceedings.

The decree, called a motu proprio, or personal initiative of the Pontiff, was made public Saturday along with an explanatory letter to the world's bishops acknowledging the recent "news reports" and "confusion" about the lifting of restrictions for access to the old rite. Known as the Tridentine rite delivered in Latin with the priest usually facing the altar, his back to the congregation the old Mass (though never banned) had effectively been replaced, following the mid-1960s reforms of the Second Vatican Council, by a liturgy recited in the vernacular.

Rome, Sep. 14, 2007 ( CWNews.com )
Rome, Sep. 14 ( CWNews.com )- With the formal implementation of Summorum Pontificum, the Pope's motu proprio providing wider access to the 1962 Roman Missal, diocesan priests do not need permission to celebrate the Latin Mass, a top Vatican official has stated. Cardinal Dario Castrillon-Hoyos-- the president of the Ecclesia Dei commission, which supervises Vatican outreach to traditionalist Catholics-- says that "from this point, priests can decide to celebrate
the Mass using the old rite, without permission from the Holy See or the bishop."
In an interview with Vatican Radio on September 13, broadcast just before the motu proprio officially took effect, Cardinal Castrillon Hoyos explained that Pope Benedict's motu proprio
affirms the right of any priest to use the "extraordinary form" of the Latin liturgy. "It is, therefore, uncessary to ask for any other permission," he said.
Some diocesan bishops have cautioned their priests against using the 1962 Missal without explicit
permission from the diocese. But the president of the Ecclesia Dei commission-- which would hear any
appeals regarding the new liturgical rules-- contradicted that notion in his Vatican Radio appearance. While affirming the bishop's authority to resolve any liturgical conflicts within his diocese, the Colombian cardinal said that the bishop should exercise that power "without negating the right that the Pope has given to the entire Church."Cardinal Castrillon Hoyos said that the motu proprio involves "no big change" in the liturgy of the Roman Church, since the older liturgy was never banned. Vatican II affirmed the freedoms of the faithful, he said, and one such freedom, which Pope Benedict has now confirmed, was access to the older liturgical form.
"Nothing is imposed on anyone" by Summorum Pontificum, the cardinal said. In allowing for greater use of the old Missal, he explained, Pope Benedict is merely "opening a possibility to the faithful who request it."

So I take a break from your insanity for a while Itchy, and when I come back I find that absolutely nothing has changed.

I hope you've been paying attention to Pope Francis' latest words. He's talking directly to you and all of the other bigoted zealots out there. Specifically, he's telling you that you shouldn't be judgmental, that you shouldn't focus obsessively on abortion, contraception and homosexuality. Just about everything I've been telling you for the past couple of years.

Now maybe you'll get the help you need. You should have lots of time on your hands now, since your OUR Pope has put an end to your nonsense.

Your socialistic approach to our religion(not yours) is the reason that the Catholic church is in the Apostasy it is in. The leaders of the catholic church have not taken the leadership that was needed, probably because of the Apostasy that is in the Vatican Council. You and your "Leader" should read your bible, and ask yourselves, "What would Jesus have said and done". And if you really knew Jesus, you would not accept Abortions(murder), Homosexuality(as per the Catholic Catechism), and contraception(which have lead to the Sexual abuses). I am happy that you have posted with a civil post, and not your cursing, ranting, name callings, that you are famous for.
What do you have to say about your running around the Altar during mass, and your patting of the Msgr during mass, that does not show any respect for Jesus, which is what the mass is about, not a show for you and Msgr .It is not just the posters here, but those that post from other states:

To my dear friends on Long Island NY:
I am getting increasingly worried and upset by what I hear in terms of liturgical abuses. It is obvious that the current Bishop (a man a questionable credentials) is unable, or more obviously, protecting the renegades in the diocese.
Is it any wonder that the likes of an Anthony Rubano can still be present at the Eucharist, minister at mass and STILL be acting out like a adolescent? Has ANYONE questioned the presence of Msgr. Dalasandro and his role in St. Thomas? WHG told me of the scandal that surrounded him at St.Dominic's of his covering up for another priest and thus his ouster. One must assume Bishop Murphy is aware of all the "episodes" and the severity of many irresponsible clergy members. I must sadly add Msgr. Jim Lisante to this list of reprobates. His actions and lifestyle do not reflect the standards of priestly life.

What happened to him? He's 61 years old, not a new and inexperienced priest. He should know better, for sure.

Could he be going through a personal crisis? Please keep me informed via this forum. I will certainly be praying for him and the community of OLL.

ps I have tried several times to no avail to email him, call and reach out to his sister Pat.

God Bless,

Toni

Lou, is it true about the bizarre homily today concerning the Zimmerman trial?
If so, Jim has really gone to the Obama camp. Please confirm

Oh it was true Frank! A total defense of Obama's remarks AFTER a verdict was decided, about how Obama was right in saying Trayvon Martin could have been him! Yea, way to go Prez in bringing our country together and not promoting more division! You could have heard a pin drop when Jim spoke about this-and no applause, because clearly people don't agree with this. Then there was another "event" at the 10:30 mass! Two kids getting their first Communion! Anthony the EM even had to sit in a folding chair because the guests of these kids had to sit up front where the EMs sit! They not only sat up front but they weren't even standing or kneeling, and then Msgr. announces that the kids are products of an interfaith marriage, so the guests were most probably Jews who didn't care that we were in the middle of our mass! That's like if I went to a synogogue, sat right up front, but talked and didn't participate at all in the service. Then sit in the back!! I'm surprised Anthony the EM didn't drag his folding chair up on the altar to be nearer to his "buddy". Oh, and Msgr. gave a shout out to the several parishioners, because there were several of them, who made him chicken soup when he was sick!

"Today bring to Me those who do not believe in God and those who do not know Me,

I was thinking also of them during My bitter Passion, and their future zeal comforted My Heart. Immerse them in the ocean of My mercy."

Most compassionate Jesus, You are the Light of the whole world. Receive into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart the souls of those who do not believe in God and of those who as yet do not know You. Let the rays of Your grace enlighten them that they, too, together with us, may extol Your wonderful mercy; and do not let them escape from the abode which is Your Most Compassionate Heart.

Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon the souls of those who do not believe in You, and of those who as yet do not know You, but who are enclosed in the Most Compassionate Heart of Jesus. Draw them to the light of the Gospel. These souls do not know what great happiness it is to love You. Grant that they, too, may extol the generosity of Your mercy for endless ages. Amen.

Today bring to Me the Souls of those who have separated themselves from My Church*,

and immerse them in the ocean of My mercy. During My bitter Passion they tore at My Body and Heart, that is, My Church. As they return to unity with the Church My wounds heal and in this way they alleviate My Passion."

Most Merciful Jesus, Goodness Itself, You do not refuse light to those who seek it of You. Receive into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart the souls of those who have separated themselves from Your Church. Draw them by Your light into the unity of the Church, and do not let them escape from the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart; but bring it about that they, too, come to glorify the generosity of Your mercy.

Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon the souls of those who have separated themselves from Your Son's Church, who have squandered Your blessings and misused Your graces by obstinately persisting in their errors. Do not look upon their errors, but upon the love of Your own Son and upon His bitter Passion, which He underwent for their sake, since they, too, are enclosed in His Most Compassionate Heart. Bring it about that they also may glorify Your great mercy for endless ages. Amen.

The scandals of Assisi

The scandals of Assisi
October 02, 2013
District of the US

As part of the continuing migration of material to our new website from our archived website, we offer here a listing of articles on the scandalous interreligious prayer meetings that were held in the Italian town of Assisi, home and resting place of St. Francis.

These articles have been specially grouped in a sidebar entitled: Assisi: a scandal!, which appears in the upper right-hand corner of every "Assisi Scandals" article (take a look!).

Archbishop Lefebvre's condemnation of Assisi I (1986)
SSPX press release about Assisi II (2002)
Why Assisi III (2011) was a scandal

Though not listed in the "Assisi Scandals" sidebar, we would be remiss if we omitted mentioning an important study that pinpoints the practical effect of false ecumenism:

From Ecumenism to Silent Apostasy

While it was Pope John Paul II who coined the term "silent apostasy" in describing the post-concilar crisis, unfortunately he failed to grasp the root, let alone rectify this grevious error within his own pontificate.

This is just one reason why the SSPX has serious concerns about the proposed canonization of Pope John Paul II as explained in this article, Doubts of the SSPX about beatifying Pope John Paul II, also just published on this new site.

Anyone wanting to follow the SSPX, in the true traditional way, you can go to their website, and ask for their bulletins emailed to you.

Today bring to Me the Meek and Humble Souls and the Souls of Little Children,

and immerse them in My mercy. These souls most closely resemble My Heart. They strengthened Me during My bitter agony. I saw them as earthly Angels, who will keep vigil at My altars. I pour out upon them whole torrents of grace. I favor humble souls with My confidence.

Most Merciful Jesus, You yourself have said, "Learn from Me for I am meek and humble of heart." Receive into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart all meek and humble souls and the souls of little children. These souls send all heaven into ecstasy and they are the heavenly Father's favorites. They are a sweet-smelling bouquet before the throne of God; God Himself takes delight in their fragrance. These souls have a permanent abode in Your Most Compassionate Heart, O Jesus, and they unceasingly sing out a hymn of love and mercy.

Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon meek souls, upon humble souls, and upon little children who are enfolded in the abode which is the Most Compassionate Heart of Jesus. These souls bear the closest resemblance to Your Son. Their fragrance rises from the earth and reaches Your very throne. Father of mercy and of all goodness, I beg You by the love You bear these souls and by the delight You take in them: Bless the whole world, that all souls together may sing out the praises of Your mercy for endless ages. Amen.

Today bring to Me all Devout and Faithful Souls,

and immerse them in the ocean of My mercy. These souls brought me consolation on the Way of the Cross. They were a drop of consolation in the midst of an ocean of bitterness."

Most Merciful Jesus, from the treasury of Your mercy, You impart Your graces in great abundance to each and all. Receive us into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart and never let us escape from It. We beg this grace of You by that most wondrous love for the heavenly Father with which Your Heart burns so fiercely.

Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon faithful souls, as upon the inheritance of Your Son. For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, grant them Your blessing and surround them with Your constant protection. Thus may they never fail in love or lose the treasure of the holy faith, but rather, with all the hosts of Angels and Saints, may they glorify Your boundless mercy for endless ages. Amen.
