"Vacancies for the Board of Education shall not be filled as seperate, specific offices, but candidates and incumbents shall be elected at large and the candidates petitions to run for the Board of Education shall not describe any specific vacancy on the Board of Education for which the candidate is seeking election. Candidates receiving the highest number of votes shall be elected as member of the Board of Education."
Example: In May 2 seats on the Board of Education become vacant. As it stands now, should both current members seek reelection and one resident wish to run, that resident must choose which incumbent Board of Education member they will run against. The other unopposed incumbent Board of Education member would automatically retain their seat for another term.
This petition is calling for those rules to be changed and all candidates and incumbents running for the Board of Education will do so "at large" meaning of all 3 candidates, the 2 candidates who receive the most votes will each win a seat.
Petitions are currently being circulated throughout WI. Please sign the petition and let's get this resolution adopted.
