I just happened to run acroos this topic tonight ...BUT ...this is just my opinion on Taylor Made......First of all the name change is stupid....They make fun of women in thier songs...And I do agree they do not have the vocals for a recording contract....I have heard an awesome local band that has been around for over 20 years and still going...somebody is putting some big money up for Taylor to continue....just go out and listen to the local bands that have the talent and the HEART to entertain ...btw , they did get a little cocky lately and how about that personal trainer ....BS, I tell ya!!!

I think Tayor Made are doing GREAT! Do I detect a little jealousy when the little people head for the top? I just attended the event they had a Woodrow Wilson High School which was a benefit for Shady Spring School..it was great and a lot of the students were involved. All songs have a story and if you don't like your size or the way your life is going..why don't you do something about it? Songs are not about "you". It's just a song. At least, you must be listening. Thumbs up to Taylor Made...Best Wishes.

I saw Taylor Made at the State Fair back in '07. I thought they put on a good show and the vocals were good enough. My only problem was the songs. I just couldn't get into them. I bought both CD's they were selling and have tried to listen to them a few times, but I'm just not feeling them. I haven't heard anything since then. Taylor Made I wish you the best and keep your heads high, but remember where you came from.

This is an old thread but I want to put in my two cents. "Heavy Duty Beauty" is a insult to the world of music. Unfortunately, Taylor Made has become a victim to those who want to make them commercial. They are picking horrible songs! They are an adequate local band that has absolutely no star quality whatsoever. I lived in Nashville for awhile and I can safely say there were bands that would blow the doors of Taylor Made who were bottom feeders on music row. Rest assured if you are placing bets on TM becoming Sugarland or Clonabama, you are gonna loose your shirt. What's funny is when you ask one of the band members about their current situation, they get all puffy and start rattling on about all this stuff that is "happening". Where is the proof? Where is the gold records? I have always heard "actions speak louder than words". Put the money where the mouth is Taylor Made!

I went and seen Taylor Made when they preformed at Desoto's. It was a pretty good show, but at the end you couldnt get them to sign shirts or anything. They acted like they were to good for that, then they left and i seen them at another bar. Just thought it was pretty messed up.. We paid for show. I heard thats why they aint getting the booking they use to.

just think one of the members would have done a much better job as a State Trooper if he had resigned form being a state trooper before embarking on his career in a band. Needed his help desperately and was told he didn't have the time.

COULD the fact that one of them is a state trooper had anything to do with their success -- you state troopers have a lot of pull in a lot of areas. Because I know a lot of people that hate thier music and can't stand them. Don't see how they got so far with all the negative things I hear about them

I agree with you totally !!! I once saw a DJ play Heavy Duty Beauty when a chubby girl got on the floor and started to dance. That was also in bad taste. I have heard local bands that have more personality with the fans and a much better sound than TM . They are not worth the time or money to see them. Try going to see a few other local bands. Its much more fun !!!!

It is truly sad when quality music struggles to get an ear and undeserving bands get the attention. However, Beckley does not appear to have a strong grassroots music movement and that hurts everyone. What is weird to me is the extremely great level of talent in this area. True musicians are simply not getting due respect. Lady D,Doug Harper,Old School Abbey and an up-an-comming crop of talent from House of Harmony in Beaver will make sure this area has quality local music. It will help if you support local performances and tell the local DJ's you want to hear other local talent and Heavy Duty Beauty aint your style. Please do not get me wrong on one point. If these guys(TM) were to mske it into the country elite, I certainly would not begrudge them nor would I snarl if they had a number one hit BUT they do not impress me. i would like to say I am impressed with this site and think it is a great way to find out whats going on in the community.

cool kitty. I read your comment and I could only imagine the scars you have from seeing that-lol. I really was afraid that would happen hwn that song was played. Now, here is a story, I went to this place called "Jamboree Hill" one time and it was this like this "shoot em up" bar. The dance floor was unfinished plywood. Needless to say there were several larger folks throwin down and I saw the plywood giving till I thought it would break!! Thank the Lord no one was hurt. I do believe a fight broke out in the parking lot but I can't remember. Your post just reminded me of that.

If one of the band members would devote as much time to victims of crime as he does to his band, a lot of people would be helped. When I needed him most he told me that he didn't have time for my problems and to get lost. I also know he sat in an interview at a local radio station advertising for a very important benefit for the Ghent victims and rolled his eyes and made smart comments on air like "oh I am so flattered to do this", with a definite hint of sarcasm. Used to really like the guy but I think his head got too big and that is what is going to stop the band from going very far. Of course, considering the fact that Raleigh Register only put his bands picture in the paper when the benefit finally took place shows a lot about how the band got as far as they have, maybe I still resent him for not helping me when I clearly deserved to be helped but I have a very bad memory of how he can be.

Maybe I am wrong to have posgted the last comment I made, but when you are a victim, you expect to be helped and I really did like the band member and really supported his music efforts and respected him but after the way he treated me, how can I ever think of him the same again. Is he still a State Trooper in Raleigh County?
