Issue 2 foes speaking up | The Columbus Dispatch

Full story: Columbus Dispatch

Opponents of state Issue 2 painted the constitutional debate yesterday as a battle of big guys and little guys: factory megafarms versus small family farms and consumers.

If they want to create a livestock care board, then do it by passing it through the legislature and send it to the governor to sign. That way it can be adjusted and changed as necessary. Implanting it in the Ohio constitution where it will take another amendment to alter it is undemocratic.

did I not just read an article in this paper about down sizing the Ohio gevernment ? This would add another arm, a few more political appointees and more micro management by the big guys ......vote no

Most humane societies and animal shalters are against Issue 2 - they say "Vote NO." There are many people like me who are working toward banning dog auctions and puppy mills in Ohio. Passage of Issue 2 would completely thwart those efforts.

A pig in a poke if I ever saw one... Small farmers beware. You will have to comply with BOTH the agricultural board and HSUS. In the Oct 19, 2009, forum at OSU, Rep. Ruhl admitted that there is NOTHING in the amendment to prevent the HSUS from attempting to regulate Ohio farmers--even if the amendment passes. There is also NOTHING to prevent an HSUS representative from getting a seat on the board. Rep. Ruhl sat there like a programmed zombie while the “professionals” argued for more regulation. It amazes me that independent-minded farmers would vote to increase regulation over themselves.

Issue 2 has nothing to do with public health and animal welfare, and everything to do with agribusiness money and ever increasing power.

For public health, political freedom, and animal welfare, VOTE NO ON ISSUE 2.

Factory farmers view animals as 'things', here for our exploitation.

Animals on farms have NO LAWS to protect them from gratuitous, unnecessary torment and suffering.

http://www.youtube.com/watch...

Issue 2 seeks to amend our State Constitution, so that the public will NEVER have a say in what happens to the animals on factory farms, or on factory farms, in general.

Rather than fix the problems, agribusiness is spending 8 million in an effort to insulate itself from public opinion.

Issue 2 is not about public health or animal welfare.

Issue 2 is about corporate power and greed.

Vote no on issue 2.

As a farmer, I know that when an animal is sick, sometimes the right thing to do is to put it out of its misery. With the electricity we’re using to keep Meredith alive, we could power a small fan for two days. You tell me what’s unethical?

Check out the other threads on this issue. Issue two was concocted by the FB because they did not want Ohioans to vote to give animals the right to be able to stand up, stretch their limbs, and turn around . Follow the money...leads to Big Ag (think FB and CAFOs)

As all of you read about Act on Two please realize that this site was set up by HSUS and their followers. Short list of endorsements, radical grouups to say the least. Vote yes on ISSUE TWO Ohioans for Ohio

I never knew the farmers union and ohio environmental council were such radical groups. I hear the strokes of a broad brush coming from your direction...
