Priest Reports He Fathered O'Fallon, MO Boy With Terminal Cancer

A Wisconsin diocese late Friday suspended a Roman Catholic priest who fathered a child during a five-year relationship in Illinois and may have been involved separately with a minor.

For what? Fathering a child out of wedlock and WHILE he was a priest, or for confessing it because he go caught?
What a POS. And there's another reason I'm not apracticing Catholic!

I am a catholic and it seems to me that this man should have been responsible in the first place and married this woman. I can not believe priests need to be celebate. Priests should have the choice if they want to be celebate or not and even then there is no guarantee. Why is having a family and relationships so bad. Isn't that what Jesus is all about, relationship! I am also a survivor of abuse and he needs to own up to his responsibility and step down and deal with his child. His child obviously is the one who is paying for all of his sin. So break the cycle of abuse and move forward so our church can heal if that is ever possible. Why any of us just be smarter and kinder to eachother. My faith is bigger than the church anyway so this could happen anywhere but it's unfortunate we still have people that hide inside running the show where God doesn't fit in.

I went to Catholic schools years ago and no priest/nun ever approach me with anything sexual. I blame parents for not teaching children what to do or say if anyone approaches you with inappropriate behavior. I also blame parents for letting their kids do what ever they want as dressing sexier than age appropriate.

We need to get back to values at home... I am 61 and cannot believe the way kids dress and look for school/work and so on.

If these priest are doing this they should be thrown out of church with no retirement pay ..
