''I hope that's not where we're going, but you know if this Congress keeps going the way it is, people are really looking toward those Second Amendment remedies and saying my goodness what can we do to turn this country around? I'll tell you the first thing we need to do is take Harry Reid out.''

xxxrayted, from your posts here I know you you don't respect the scientific consensus that states that climate change is real, and that you don't have much respect for our government, either. The one exception seems to be the military --- I think you do respect and listen to them. That's why you might be interested in the Quadrennial Defense Review by the Department of Defense. The 2014 edition was just released.

Here's one of the many threats that they are preparing for:

"Climate change poses another significant challenge for the United States and the world at large. As greenhouse gas emissions increase, sea levels are rising, average global temperatures are increasing, and severe weather patterns are accelerating. These changes, coupled with other global dynamics, including growing, urbanizing, more affluent populations, and substantial economic growth in India, China, Brazil, and other nations, will devastate homes, land, and infrastructure. Climate change may exacerbate water scarcity and lead to sharp increases in food costs. The pressures caused by climate change will influence resource competition while placing additional burdens on economies, societies, and governance institutions around the world. These effects are threat multipliers that will aggravate stressors abroad such as poverty, environmental degradation, political instability, and social tensions - conditions that can enable terrorist activity and other forms of violence."

Old Guy, the only thing I point out in my posts is that everybody has a financial interest in this climate change nonsense private and public. Canton keeps trying to rub it in that only anti-climate change people have a dog in the race.
As I've been saying in countless posts, these climate scientists earn their living on taxpayer money. It's no different than the claim that anti-climate change scientists earn their money via private sector. What's the difference? Each group has a personal financial interest.
If your city hired you (and paid you very well) to count all the stray dogs in your city, are you going to report that there are no stray dogs? Of course you're not. Doing so would be putting yourself out of a gravy job. It's free money, and if you have to lie a little bit about a stray dog here or there that you really didn't see, so be it. How are they going to know that you didn't?
What do you suppose would happen to all these climate scientists if they were honest and reported there was no man made climate change? They would be out of a great paying job.
That being said, who is it that pays our military again????
See he got your tail between your legs. That is such a weak and pathetic crybaby tactic.

You suggest that honor and reputation mean nothing, and that everyone can be corrupted for a bit of cash.

I don't think even you believe this. It's just another evasion. But, just in case you do believe it, let me assert that there are people that cannot be bought. They have self respect and a sense of service.

But, since you seem to be for sale, here's a little thought experiment: How many dollars for you to become a liberal?

As you say ... "it's free money."

Of course we all know how frugal people are that use government money. We know of their stellar record of honesty and integrity.

The Koch Brothers were one of the largest financial backers of Climate Change Denial. They hired an independent staff of climate scientists to once and for all prove that climate change was not happening and was not caused by man. You don't get a bigger "dog in the race" than what is on the line for the oil industry. So answer me this. After the scientists that the Koch Brothers hired refused to lie about their findings on climate change, the Koch brother oil billionaires are now publically claiming that not only is our climate changing, but it is most certainly caused by man's actions. That is a complete turn around for the people that paid for the propaganda you Conservatives are still spewing. So why did they update their views but you guys are still back on the outdated crap? How's come, right now, major insurance companies have changed their business model to account for the obvious changes to our climate? Don't worry. I already know the answer. It's because you guys would look even dumber if you finally had to admit that you were wrong the whole time.

Thanks "job creators". You obviously should be completely deregulated and allowed to decide for yourselves what is best for society. Be sure to publically cry extra loud for the lumps of unborn cells as you dump that into the water supply...

A new study by the Harvard School of Public Health has found a link between exposure to toxic "industrial chemicals" and a recent spike in children with autism, ADHD and dyslexia.

HSPH adjunct professor of environmental health Philippe Grandjean says there is a "silent pandemic" of children experiencing cognitive delays caused by exposure to "neurointoxicants."

The greatest concern is the large numbers of children who are affected by toxic damage to brain development in the absence of a formal diagnosis. They suffer reduced attention span, delayed development, and poor school performance. Industrial chemicals are now emerging as likely causes.

The report has added six chemicals to the list of those believed to contribute to developmental disabilities, including manganese - "associated with diminished intellectual function and impaired motor skills" - and a solvent "linked to hyperactivity and aggressive behavior."

Strange that Reality would think honesty is gone when 76% of the nation is Christian, and the Bible clearly states you shouldn't lie. Wisdom tells us that writing a symphony for a chimp is a bad idea, no matter how much time you put into it or even how beautiful it may sound. None of that matters if your audience is still just a chimp. That's where Reality fits into this picture.

Well let's use your logic both ways here. Isn't it possible that climate change deniers in the scientific community have that very integrity that you write of?
If you can agree to that, then perhaps you should be responding to Canton since he believes that when it comes to CC deniers, it's all about money and they'll tell you anything to get that money.
I was just trying to show Canton how it does go both ways. Can money corrupt anybody or just who Canton thinks it can corrupt?

Twenty-year hiatus in rising temperatures has climate scientists puzzled
GRAHAM LLOYD, ENVIRONMENT EDITOR THE AUSTRALIAN MARCH 30, 2013 12:00AM
DEBATE about the reality of a two-decade pause in global warming and what it means has made its way from the sceptical fringe to the mainstream.
In a lengthy article this week, The Economist magazine said if climate scientists were credit-rating agencies, then climate sensitivity - the way climate reacts to changes in carbon-dioxide levels - would be on negative watch but not yet downgraded.
Another paper published by leading climate scientist James Hansen, the head of NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Studies, says the lower than expected temperature rise between 2000 and the present could be explained by increased emissions from burning coal.
For Hansen the pause is a fact, but it's good news that probably won't last.
International Panel on Climate Change chairman Rajendra Pachauri recently told The Weekend Australian the hiatus would have to last 30 to 40 years "at least" to break the long-term warming trend.
But the fact that global surface temperatures have not followed the expected global warming pattern is now widely accepted.
Research by Ed Hawkins of University of Reading shows surface temperatures since 2005 are already at the low end of the range projections derived from 20 climate models and if they remain flat, they will fall outside the models' range within a few years.
"The global temperature standstill shows that climate models are diverging from observations," says David Whitehouse of the Global Warming Policy Foundation.
http://www.theaustralian.com.au/news/features...
David Whitehouse works for an climate change denial "think tank" in the UK, so we'll skip his opinion. Seems Ed Hawkins has a little more to say on the subject of climate change than just what you have posted above...https://www.skepticals cience.com/hawkins-hiatus-gif. html
