I wonder how many human rights issues the almighty GOP ignored in Africa and abroad, just so we could invade a country that had nothing to do with 9/11? Guess "God" didn't tell Bush to help them. Just like "God" didn't lie to Congress about WMDs. "God" made damn sure that Halliburton made mountains of money off our soldiers needlessly dying. Oh, and how about oil billionaire sponsored Sarah Palin? Was she fit to run this nation as VP? The atrocities your camp sat silent through with GW, makes you invalid when you focus on kookie notions of birth certificates and the noble and provided "outrage" over health care coverage for poor people. Strange how when they required everyone to have auto insurance, it wasn't the end of all civilization on the planet as we know it. It wasn't considered "the worst thing to happen to America since slavery". Just greed, little strip mall fisherman. Just greed.
excuse me.....we have enough issues here in the USA, so even bothering the what if's with you is boring.

what you call greed, is seen by some as driven.

envy is shown by those who consider greed to include giving half your income to charity.....like Romney.

any sane person to listen to your rants is in wonder how you escaped the mental hospital.

It's too bad that you guys have NEVER had a president who follows what you stand for. You guys being the "Silent Majority" and all. I am proud to say that there have been presidents in my life time that have stood up for what I believe in. It's what makes me an American. Where as, the shirtless poster of Putin you have hanging in your bedroom is the only "Conservative Hero" you will ever have to dream about.

Boy...you showed me? I mean, except for the part where you are just babbling and don't make any sense. You were so "driven" that you let your parents hold the wheel for you. Some were so driven, that they reached out their fat little trust fund baby hands and said "gimme gimme", followed by being handed 400 acres. Others are "driven" by 18 wheels and a knowledge about our climate that trumps science.

On a completely different note than the important things we argue about on here daily. Like the cure for childhood cancer we have all been working out on this forum for months and months. Here is a very cool song, from a very talented band that I think we all could learn something from. Left, Right, Liberal, Conservative or none of the above. Again. No agenda. Just a song that I truly enjoy and a break from all the venom we spew at each other each day...Enjoy.

...It has been discovered that Mike Huckabee himself signed legislation in 2005 that required contraception coverage in Arkansas insurance policies...including policies for church-affiliated organizations such as hospitals and universities.
First I'll say that I disagree with Huckabee's decision to force insurance companies to sell anything. That's socialistic in nature. Second, I think states should run their affairs the way they see fit, unless they're committing actual human rights abuses. The citizenry usually has mechanisms in place to rid themselves of undesirable politicians and policies, if they choose to. Third, I don't think religious-based businesses had to comply. Here is the actual bill:

http://www.arkleg.state.ar.us/assembly/2005/R...

From the bill:
"Religious employer" means an entity:
(A)....
(B) That has as one (1) of its primary purposes the inculcation of religious values; and
(C)....

"Inculcation" means "to teach and impress by frequent repetitions or admonitions ". Even businesses like Hobby Lobby or Chick-fil-A have demonstrated for years that their core values are Christian. Everyone knows it. So, I would be surprised to learn that they had to comply.
...Rand Paul(R-Ky) declared the 'War on women' was over. As evidence, the Kentucky Senator pointed out that 'NONE' of the women in his family were complaining about inequality or having their health care rights curtailed by Republicans...Then he tried to blame the 'war on women' on Bill Clinton.
It is quite an irony for dems to accuse repubs of having a war on women, when one of their biggest heroes took advantage of a young woman in his office. And I'll add to Paul's comment by saying, because Clinton lied for months about the affair, he caused every sordid bit of it to be revealed, which made Lewinsky a laughing stock and damaged her reputation beyond repair. He also cheated on his wife. And among other infidelity issues, he's suspected of having raped a woman. So, until you dems fully address that and call Clinton out for what he is, you don't need to be accusing repubs of waging a war on women.
Ted Cruz (r-Tx) repeatedly refused to take any responsibility for last years government shutdown...Cruz blamed Obama...
I didn't listen to the interview, but aren't the republicans in the House the ones who were accused of shutting down the govt? Cruz is a Senator. He may have lit the fire, but he didn't write the budget, and he didn't cast one vote in the House.

This is the way it happened: Cruz filibustered in the Senate against ObamaCare. The House passed a budget that funded all the govt except OC. Obama refused to negotiate, and punished Americans by spending more money to shut things down, than it costs to keep them open.
Texas, the first state to require high school students to take Algebra II has now abandoned the policy. Supporters say that mandating fewer courses will allow students to focus on 'Vocational Training' for high-paying jobs that don't require college degrees.(there went the battle cry of getting a better education to improve yourself). Yet they had wholly embraced the 'No Child Left Behind' law.
"No Child Left Behind" is a separate matter. I'm not in favor of that program, because I think the fed govt should leave us the hell alone. States, counties, and local governments should be in charge of their own schools. Their children are the ones in them.

When I was in school, Algebra II was a college-prep course. Kids who wanted to go into vocational fields didn't have to take it. Not every kid wants to go to college. It's better for them to concentrate on their real job goals. College is no guarantee of success.

I guess that you forgot about South Africa, the Sudan, Somalia, Egypt & Lybia. The last that I looked at a map, they are all in Africa.
Haliburton is the ONLY company in the world that could even bid on the requested work.
WMD's WMD's. Th world & the UN KNOW that he had them. Procrastination gave him time to sell, hide or smuggle them out of the country. Geez, give it up already!
Auto ins & mdical ins are issues as different as coconuts & apples. The government (FED) is not trying to control 1/6 th of the economy with auto ins, The states set the parameters & didn't tell everyone that they had to cover tires, paint, faded interiors etc which sort of is what the feds are doing with med ins.

If I were to hit you in a car accident, I caused damage to your vehicle, and possibly you.

That is why car insurance is mandatory in Ohio. You must pay for the damage you create. Simple enough.

Heath however quite different. How do I create damage upon you that I must be responsible for?

This is just another failed spin tactic from the left in attempt to cover up the POWER the elected officials gain by government provided healthcare.

Maybe not, but that's the way I'd bet. We need the smartest next generation that we can foster, if we are going to succeed as a nation in the 21st Century. And it's certainly more profitable for the individual:

" Adults with bachelor's degrees in the late 1970s earned 55 percent more than adults who had not advanced beyond high school. That gap grew to 75 percent by 1990 -- and is now at 85 percent."

But how could these borderless corporations declare "Buy American" if they don't reduce us to a 3rd world nation? Look at what they have tried, not just with education, but with child labor laws.

True but that is why car ins isn't 1/6th of the economy & doesn't get the 'devotion' & attention of the greedy for power federal politicians & egotistical president.

This is just another failed spin tactic from the left in attempt to cover up the POWER the elected officials gain by government provided healthcare.
Like you said....POWER! Power over THE people/us. IF they are sincere about helping the populace, quit mean mouthing the other side, spend their energy in positive ways, quit lying or covering for liars & follow the constitution ! It is still the LAW of the land & it still applies!

Did you know that law was enacted by Ronald Reagan? As I recall it was in response to several deaths that occurred soon after hospitals refused to admit people that couldn't pay.

It's a costly way to deliver healthcare to the uninsured.

"According to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, 55% of U.S. emergency care now goes uncompensated. When medical bills go unpaid, health care providers must either shift the costs onto those who can pay or go uncompensated. In the first decade of EMTALA, such cost-shifting amounted to a hidden tax levied by providers. For example, it has been estimated that this cost shifting amounted to $455 per individual or $1,186 per family in California each year."

I agree, if a kid wants to go to college. But even with all the grants, scholarships, and loans available now, there are still a lot of kids who don't want anything to do with it. Their time would be better spent pursuing a trade. TX has some HS vocational schools, but I don't know how many. Maybe the govt is wanting to give those more attention.

A college education is great, but it's too expensive these days ... who wants to be a 22-year-old kid fresh out of school, saddled with tens of thousands of dollars worth of debt?

Reagan should have heeded his own warning: "The nine most terrifying words in the English language are,'I'm from the government and I'm here to help.'" Big Brother saves the day again, and we're all suffering for it.
