""It's directed at the legislature so the nursing-home lobby can derail reform one more time," Kasich said, later adding: "We're not going to cave in to these special interests, and if they start winning, you're going to hear what I have to say about it"

I am so tired of people who think they rule because the people fear them. Even when I think Kasich might have a good point, I find myself shutting him out because he seldom can deliver a message without arrogance and threats. He loses my respect.

This country broke from the rule of kings hundreds of years ago. It would be nice to have a governor who leads rathers than threatens.

Who else is on Kasich's hit list?! Anyone who has ever voted Democrat shoud be on their toes. Let's see...teachers, police officers, firefighters, union labor, school children, seniors,...the list continues to grow. I can't recall any elected official with so much anger as this guy. On the bright side, it takes someone like Kasich to provide incentive to ammend our state constitution with a recall provision.

Then if no group should use Politica influence, how about no Individual as well, umm MR Governor. I see nothing wrong if a group of individuals or a company wants to give money to someones campain, heck if someone other then you came to me or my company if i had one, I would give them money if i felt they were doing the right thing, thank God you didnt come to me, I would have to tell you NO. I am a lifelong Republican, worked on Kasich's Congressional campaigns and support his work on SB 5.... BUT, I cannot support him on this.

My grandmother was very sick in the late 1980's and my mother, for a long time, tried to take care of her at home.(my mother was in very good health.). But over a couple years, it took a toll on her and on my dad and myself. We made the decision to put my grandmother in a nursing home and it was the best decision we ever made. Caring for and worrying about my grandmother was taking a huge toll on my mothers health. Her doctor, my father and I all firmly believe that if we had not forced mom to put grandma in the nusing home, it would have killed my mother or ruined her health.

Grandma got great care in the nursing home... far better than she go or ever would have go at home and had activities and other things to help occupy her time.(and she was begining to suffer from Alzthimers). The interaction with the staff and the other residents and the activities helped keep her mentally with us for a longer period. She lived another 7 years in the nursing home, something that would not have happened had she been at home.(oh, and did I mention, that she was private pay for all those years....so we did not "sponge" off anybody.).

The nursing home helped my grandmother live a longer, more full life and it helped save my mom's health and possibly her life.

My wife's grandmother is also getting terrific care in the nursing home that she is in. Without a nursing home, she would be placed at my mother in laws house (even for home health care) as she has sold her house and went into assited living before she needed the nursing home.
So, now because of Kasich's stupid idea, my mother in law or other family member would be stuck taking grandma-in-law into their house and disrupting their lives.(something grandma in law would rather die for than have to do.) It would destroy her dignity.

This is a really bad plan for Ohio and our Seniors. Kasich is getting a little too carried away in his plans. I may have to rethink my position on SB 5 and vote for the repeal just to stop this madman.

I laugh when this Moron, Kasuck, throws out all these Statistics but he doesn't tell anyone where he got it from.

Heres the problem with Ohioans. This Moron, we call a Governor, says whatever he wants & people believe him because its what they want to hear.

Wake Up people, this guy doesn't care about Ohio. He has done Absolutely Nothing but RAISE the UnEmployment Rate since he took Office.

Kasuck & the Morons, who work for the Dispatch, throw out Contributions received. Why don't we check & see how much Kasuck received from BIG / Privately owned businesses ??

I too voted Republican all my life, until Kasich. I couldn't get over the Lehman Brothers behavior and what I felt were corrupt motives and lies.
Welcome to the screwed by Kasich Club! I have a feeling it's going to grow tremendously each month!Think about it, this many has only been in office for 5 months...

Kasich is so clueless that it's HUMOROUS. He's like a cartoon character: Daffy Duck or Elmer Fudd perhaps?

He's going to have a HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT come re-election time.........

Nursing homes employee alot of people and also help many seniors and the injured. Approximately 42 more months of Kasich, what a mess the next governor will have to try and fix his destruction. When he was a kid he probably broke all of his toys.

Just maybe aim and fire isn't the best choice of a title for this story.
I thought those types of "word tracks" by the media and polticians were going to be toned down in light of all the whackos in the world and how they react.
What does the nursing homes etc have to do with what he was in that area for anyway. He definately suffers from ADD and to have the fat cow Shannon Jones introduce you and then make public the fact she took money from the nursing home lobby shows he plays no favorites when trying to make himself look good ..... John it's not working OHIO hates you.

I cannot stand this Governor and what he is doing to the state of Ohio; he has everyone at each other's throats. That being said, there has been a long standing problem with the nursing home lobby; it's only purpose is to protect the interests of a massive business.

There is a nursing home on every corner, they are as prolific as CVS pharmacies. There are plenty of beds, too many in fact and that's part of the problem. Times have changed, granny and grampy don't want to go into a nursing home right off the bat. They want to stay at home for as long as possible and then go into the facility only as a last resort. And don't worry, I don't mean sharing a home with you, I mean having home care.

The people on these forums have been screaming for months about public employees and their lavish salaries and pensions (which, BTW isn't the case but off topic) and yet now you're all being sucked in to this play on your emotions by the nursing home lobby. Care will not suffer, there will be beds, just maybe not on every corner.

And oh, most of us (I'm one of those grammies) had the wisdom to plan .... we took out long term care insurance so that we won't have to use public funds for our end of life care.

Move slow on this one folks...

What is the matter with this guy? May he never grow old and need help. May he never need to get help to care for an elderly family member. This is one of the meanest tricks I have ever seen. Shame on you Mr. Kashich. Your time will come...and go very quickly I hope.

Wow, this reads just like a commercial. I have to wonder if "Steve" isn't a nursing home lobbyist. I'm not saying that Kasich's plan is good or bad, I don't know enough about it, but this post seems questionable.

CINCINNATI (TDB)-- John Kasich was chairman of the U.S. House Budget Committee in July 1999 at the height of the dotcom boom. His federal financial disclosure statement (a portion excerpted above) shows he acquired a stake in the Goldman Sachs Internet fund on July 1, 1999. But Goldman Sachs didn't launch its Internet mutual fund until October 1, 1999. Kasich's financial disclosure statement indicates he got a three month head start. The record suggests that Kasich -- who didn't seek reelection in 2000 -- was closely following developments on Wall Street. Did he have access to inside information? Goldman Sachs said it created the Internet fund to offer an opportunity to invest in "what may be the most compelling technological change in our lifetime." It was the go-go era before the dotcom crash. After leaving the House, Kasich went to work for Lehman Bros. Inc., a Wall Street investment bank that collapsed in 2008.

So you support continued tax funding levels even though there isn't enough money to pay all the bills just because Kasich is the gov? THAT makes sense! My how the politicians have created hate mongorers of all the gullible...
