And I know Pepsi drinkers that won't order a Coke. What's your point Steve?
Order Mt Dew, water, coffee, sweet tea, Dr Pepper or whatever

Hello Hamilton! I pretty much said the same thing as you but judged my post badly. You are something else. And not something good.

I hate Coke! I visited Florida recently and it was a wild chase for Pepsi products.

What difference really does it make? All their flavors basically taste alike, depending more on their freshness than brand. Save $2 and give it to your servers who need it more than the restaurants that underpays them.

There are 2 kinds of restaurants. The boring ones that hustle Coke or Pepsi products and those that are not so lazy and also imaginative enough to serve beverages they themselves create.

When you order a Coke and they ask if Pepsi will be ok instead, you do not have to settle if it is not ok. Also if you order a Coke and they bring you a Pepsi instead, you can send it back. Maybe management will get the message.
Beverage sales matter to restaurants because they are almost pure profit. That is why they start pushing them before you sit down or have time to think about it and use good judgment. Vote with your wallet.

Here's the thing for those of you that don't know. I have NEVER worked in a restaurant that was NOT agreeable to ANY patron bringing in a non-alcoholic beverage that they didn't have on their menu. You like Coke but they serve Pepsi? NO problem, bring your Coke. You like Root Beer & they don't offer Root Beer? NO problem, bring your own Root Beer. You want diet Sprite & they don't have it, bring your own & you can still order off of the menu. NO problem. Do you want Gator Ade & they don't have Gator Ade? NO problem. Unless they have an uninformed server.

This is so untrue. Most restaurants insist you do not bring in outside food and drinks..

You said MOST. And you added 'food' which I never mentioned.
I have worked in many fast food, casual dining & individual family restaurants as a cook, server, manager, supervisor AND eventually as an equipment repair man for a total of 30+ years.
They do NOT advertise that they are amenable to such an act understandably but if you want a diet ginger ale or caffeine free cola BUT you are ordering a meal, they will be tolerant, especially if you ask 1st. It MUST be something that they don't serve. They will usually tell you that it must be poured into their cup/glass so that it is discreet but that's it.
I am NOT saying that it is everywhere or anywhere.
I have seen it many many times over the decades so telling me that I am wrong is wrong in itself.

This topic reminds of a time that I pulled up to a drive up speaker & along with my meal order I asked for a "cola" & was told that they did NOT have that beverage. I don't really care if it's Pepsi or Coke. Even Royal Crown cola is 'cola' or Sam's 'cola' or Big K 'cola' erc. But in any case, the 2nd word is COLA & this person had NO clue as to that. Sad example of intellect or schooling or job training today.
