How about doing something novel for the media. Print the NEWS & ONLY the news, do NOT MAKE the news!!
That is one of what they are competing with in the internet news. People can learn more truth on the internet.
One thing that papers can't compete with is the speed of electronics.
But they can 'shop' for a managing editor that gets better results if some papers are doing so much better.
