Everyone I know who rode that ride, hated it. It was way to rough. We went to Kings Island one year and a couple people in our group wanted to ride it. They closed the ride 3 times that day for repair. They never got to ride, thank god. That ride has been plagued since the begining.

When it comes to wooden coasters, maybe we've finally gotten to the point where these things are just too big.

With you. I love the woodies, but this one has no charms for me. I have lately been seduced by the smoother ride of the steel coasters, and their size and speed. But trying to put the two together was a bad idea. Give it up.

Son of Beast was a bad idea from the blueprints on. Every wooden roller coaster over 125 feet has had problems (with the exception of The Legend at Holiday World, one of the few parks willing to invest the time and money to care for its wooden coasters).

Son of Beast has been excessively rough from day one; its layout is strange and boring; and it's too similar to the Beast across the park. The only reason to ride it was to experience a wooden loop, and that was removed two years ago for no reason (the loop was never a part of the coaster's problems).

Kings Island should admit defeat and tear it down.

I road Son of Beast in '05. It 'kinked' my neck at one turn during that ride. Was in pain for the rest of the day, and discomforted for 3 days after. Never road it again, and come to think of it, haven't been back to KI since. Although been to Cedar Point several times since! Top Thrill is great!!

Rode that coaster 16 times in a row in October two years ago. It was awesome. But if you're a soft squishy twinkie from Ohio then it's not for you.

Actually, I think it's the thin people that have the most problems! That ride threw me all over the place & nothing to "cushion" the pain made for a very uncomfortable ride!!

Agreed. Even for those of us who love and can handle the most awesome roller coasters, it is way too rough. When a ride's proven reputation becomes that of pain and discomfort in place of fun and excitement, it's time to try something else.

Hated it. I ride for thrills not pain. The thing is junk

Shivering Timbers at Michigan Adventure hits right on 125, as I recall, with a very simple out and back layout. But, it's over a mile long and a great ride.

My brother in law is a neurologist and he just laughs everytime I ride a coaster. He knows the risk involved.
