I am looking for a Madeline from newtown. Last name unknown. She was good friends with Melissa Trout who was killed in a car accident in 1985. Any help is appreciated.

Hi, I don't know if this will help, but I worked at GTE/VERIZON from 1873-1988 and I knew a Madeline Troudt...spelled that exact way. She had a daughter named Jeanne and at that time, Jeanne's last name was Burrows, but I hear she has remarried and moved to Palm Springs California. That was about 5 years ago.

Thanks for your reply. I don't believe Madeline was related to Melissa. They were just extremely close friends. I have been told anyone from newtown would remember this accident, it was on round bottom rd in 1985. Atleast 2 fatalities. Thanks

...... A few hints. Check her Obituary. You can go to the downtown library and get microfilm of Cincinnati Enquirtr & Post. From this you who'll see names of parents, siblings or other relatives. Akso, name of funeral home will be listed. Also, you can get a police report of the accident and get addresses - maybe her folks still live at same address. Her siblings or parents will know Madeline's last name. You can check marriage lisence on line and see the copy of all documents from 1985 to now. If you can find Melissa's relatives - you have a good chance. Also, wher did she go to high school. Copies of many school yearbooks available at downtown library. Good luck. Also old city directiries in the historical section may list her in CITY or SUBURBAN directory for the years after she became an adult.

Thank you for all of your ideas. I plan on going to the library ASAP to try to find the article on the accident. I did call the newtown police department and they said they wouldn't have the police report anymore, that was a real bummer. Really hoping I can find the article about the accident. Thanks again.

Can you tell me how you located this? Online it says the library only keeps dates of pre 1922 or 1999- present. Appreciate your help.

You mentioned there were fatalities and or injuries. You might also check with the Fire Department to see what records they might have of the accident. Was anyone charged with a traffic offense ? If so, you might find a copy of the accident report attached to any citations issued at the county courthouse, whichever county that was in ( Hamilton County )? One other possibility might be the records section in Columbus where they possibly maintain copies of Ohio Uniform Traffic Tickets and or Accident Reports. The information you need is out there somewhere, don't let others discourage you from finding them. Also, try to find out who was " Towing Vehicles " for the city police in that time frame ( shouldn't be hard to find out ). They might have some names or know of an Insurance Company involved. The insurance company surely would have a lot of information. Good Luck.

Yes, everything you mention is what I need to find out. There are too many secrets surrounding this accident.
