I THINK DAYTON NEEDS TO CHECK SWIMMING POOLS IN FOLKS BACK YARDS TO MAKE SURE THEY ARE KEPT CLEAN AND NOT A BREEDING GROUND FOR INSECTS...THAT CAN CAUSE WEST NILE DISEASE..I HAVE SEEN SEVERAL THAT NEED TO BE DRAINED...I DO NOT WANT TO SAY WHO BECAUSE ONE IS MY NEIGHBOR AND I HAVE TO LIVE IN THIS NEIGHBORHOOD..BUT THIS POOL HAS HAD STAGNET GREEN WATER IN IT FOR TWO YEARS AND THEY DO NOT PLAN ON OPENING THEIR POOL THIS YEAR..HOWEVER; THEY HAVE NOT REMOVED THE OLD GREEN WATER EITHER AND WITH THE FEAR OF WEST NILE DISEASE WE NEED TO DO ALL WE CAN TO CLEAN UP STANDING DIRTY WATER..MAYBE A NOTICE COULD BE PLACED IN LOCAL PAPER REMINDING NEIGHBORS TO REMOVE ALL STANDING DIRTY GREEN WATER FROM THEIR POOLS AND HELP PREVENT ILLNESS OR EVEN A CHANCE A CHILD COULD FALL INTO THIS UNUSED POOL THANK YOU

ummm why not see if your local police will send a warning? I believe they will. But might not if it is not an eye sore... I do know if you don't cut your grass they will warn you (guy down the street) but it is because it makes the whole street look like crap.
But I must say I would not lose sleep over it. I'm sure you have standing water that could be breeding misquotes even if your unaware. They only need something as big as a pucket top or maybe that garbage can that is left outside. I get bit by misquotes all the time in the summer and I'm still here.

Cincinnati Guy, I am sorry about the Caps..but yes indeed I am mad about a fithy dirty stagnet swimming pool that will draw all kinds of misquotes which they are very concerned over the West Nile disease...read about it almost everyday..so why would someone be so lazy as to not empty this nasty pool... and in answer to your question..no we do not have standing water at our house because of just that..if there is a puddle or etc..we pour some bleach in it..this pool is too large to add bleach to it.. Sorry, I did not mean to sound like a big old grumpy neighbor..but just looking out for my family without causeing a big mess in our neighborhood.. Rusty Nail

I understand the point of view of why would anyone be so lazy. I can not stand when people do not take pride in where they live. It would drive me crazy too. I would not be worried about the misq's but thats just me.
I would make a complaint to the police but just don't know what the could do. I would go at it as an eye sore, I know my township is tuff on that.
As for the CAPS, just wanted to point it out. I kinda figured you were just mad but just thought I would let ya know. As for sounding like a grumoy neighbor,,,,,,, ha we all have our days! You sound like someone that wants your neighborhood to look and be clean, no grumpy in that. Wish more people would think like that, we would have so many dumpy looking places around.....

Rusty Nail You can bleach every pool of stagnant water on your property that you want (by the way, that is rather silly and points to an OC illness) but the mosquitos can still fly across the street from a neighbors, or the street, or a sidewalk, and bite you. Oh well...

Two years of nasty water? Do they have frogs and tadpoles in there? Some pools get those if they are left unattended that long. And everyone knows kids love catching frogs. I would be worried about a kid falling into that unattended pool. Anonymously alert the city. You have some very good reasons to. Good luck.

I think you should call the City Building. We have a blight inspecter, sounds like blight or a public health or safety issue (attracting children etc.)
