I think it's ridiculous that charges have not been brought against the mother. She should also be fired from her job. I wouldn't feel comfortable leaving my children with a woman like that in charge.

As the prosecutor explained it is a tough call and a very fine line between a criminal act and a tragic accident. He can only prosecute a criminal act. As he said, there is little the law and society can do at this point that would be worse that the hell she is putting herself through.

The same is true for the doctor that did the same there in St. Louis a day after this one here in Ohio.

We are talking 8 hours resulting in death not a few minutes and the kids were unharmed. This is the difference.

For the life of me I can't understand why there are so many excuses why this woman should not answer for her neglect. Her family may be prominent in the community. It seems they all have sympathy for her but not the child who was left behind-so-called forgotten. This baby died a slow death. The blisters were not all, her little body slowly gave way to the heat,A day of complete dehydration. I'd venture to say her body was completely baked. The blood in her veins probably crystlized. How about that for an accident. Oh, I forgot for 8 hours I had a baby and so did my husband. Bull Crap

An egg left in a heated car at 88 degrees for 3 hours loses all moisture, the white crystalizes and the yolk is bumby and solid. I have woke up everyday with this child on my mind it grieves my heart what she went through. I think I have read every detail on what has been written about her. Either mom ar dad put her in the car, at first they weren't sure.

While shouting at me you missed the point that it only takes a second of inattention and your story could be in the paper or on the TV news.

That's when they run into the street, find daddy's gun, take all those pretty pills mommy takes, fall out of a tree or a million other things that could get their name on a hunk of granite. This kid was not killed in 8 hours it was killed in a moment of inattention or preoccupation.

No one is making excuses for her. It is called compassion. I can not imagine a situation worse than killing your own kid.

I have a question for all you people screaming for the blood of this woman for the accidental death of her child.

What is your stand on the planned legal killing of millions of babies per year called abortion?

And what do you call a woman waiting until the 20th week or later to have a doctor use a device similar to Vice Grips to pull the baby down the birth canal, poke a hole in its head and then vacuum out its brain. Sounds pretty much like murder to me but you call it abortion.

So a planned killing of a baby is OK but an accident is murder.

I believe, if you keep up with current law third trimester ( or partial birth) abortions are now illegal. I am against 3rd trimester abortion since the fetus can live outside the womb at that point (in some cases) without intervention from medical personnel.

This was murder, accidental of intentional. If you accidently hit someone with your car it is manslaughter. Why should this woman get off scott free?

You are correct mister editor. They are now illegal but during the years they were legal hundreds of thousands, if not millions, were preformed and all those women were never charged with anything.

My point has always been: What is the rush to charge this woman? Give the investigators time to ferret out all the facts.

Had Woody Breyer and Doug White taken a little more time with the Marcus Fiesel case perhaps Amy Baker would have been in Marysville with Liz Carroll.

Doug White is saying that he will not be rushed to judgment based on the hysteria now in play over this tragic death. I hope he maintains that stance.

As to your assertion that If you accidentally hit someone with your car it is manslaughter is not correct. People are rarely charged criminally for an accident unless there are other things in play such as alcohol or drug usage. They may be taken to the mat in a civil suit but that is a different matter.

Comparing laws then and now is hard to do. Years ago incest/child abuse was not an issue...

The laws have changed to protect viable life (before and after the process of birth).

Why the rush? I hope they don't rush, as it ai always better to have the fact to win the case in a court of law than to run head long into only to be dismissed by a court of law.

Personally, I think this is a case that plays on my mothering instinct. My child is now 19 years old and not a day has went by that I don't "think" about where he is or what he is doing... I always have.

I just can't for the life of me accept the idea that a mother can "forget" for 8 hours.

It just doesn't happen.

We found out today that she forgot the doughnuts in the car after she got to school and came back out to retrieve them from her backseat, which was right next to the carseat that the kid was in. It was found out by the school parking lot video camera.
How do you remember a box of doughnuts, but never once think about your kid for 8 hours

Who are "we" and what is the time line? She took something in, came right back out and got something else, went it never (at least the child's lifetime) to return???

or did she go back after the donuts hours later to discover the child?

"We" are people in general, people who watch the news, people who read the newspaper. "We" is not the point...the time line was not given for how long it took for her to go back out to the car & retrieve her breakfast....but the time line of how long it took for someone to come into the school & scream someone had left their child in the car, was more than 8 hrs.

My apologies, I didn't mean to sound insulting but rather getting around to the point that "if", for instance, she has gone back just a couple minutes ( she could say I fogot" ~But~if a longer times had lapsed (say,a couple hours) for the second batch of donuts, then I would have to say there is some premeditation to this.

See where I'm going with this?

I had not heard that on the news I must have missed it.

ABORTION HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH, A BABY BEING JUST FORGOT ABOUT IN THIS WAY. I COULD NEVER LEAVE ANYTHING IN A HOT AUTOMOBILE,TO DIE!! I DONT BELIEVE FOR A MINUTE IT WAS AN ACCIDENT.SHE NEEDS TO BE PUT IN JAIL. I WOULD NEVER WANT TO HAVE MY CHILD BE UNDER HER SUPERVISION.

Like i said abortion has nothing to do with this!!!!! For the mothers who want, to kill their children. Just leave them in a automobile on a hot summer day to die,and they will not be prosecuted. thats bull!! she needs to be locked up and the key thrown away!!!!!
