Gas drive-off leads to high-speed chase

TAZEWELL, Tenn . a ' Just after noon on Monday, the clerk at the Shell Station in Dogwood Heights reported a gas drive-off of $14.05 from their store.

Exactly what i said when i heard about it lol. Who would go on a little 2 lane bridge knowing they had done radioed ahead!

wow it cost them more time and money to go after these people than it was worth,and the lifes they risk doing this,was it worth it? the sherriff,s department must really be bored to death to do this,i dont condone people not paying for the gas,but our law enforcement, or lack of it,if you call them on a breaking and entering or someone stealing something you own they dont show up for hours,steal a few bucks worth of gas and you make the head lines for days to follow,go figure,only in claiborne county could this happen,you got to love it though,at least someone gets a laugh from it.

kinda seems like the cops wasted a lot of gas chasing the guy down because he stole the gas that he was wasting running from them. this is part of why gas costs so much. screw u guys

Well, I got the plessure of seeing a little bit of this chase. And may I add, in ways, it was quiet humorous. I was driving down the back road in the Sandlick area with my window cracked, smoking a cig, when I heard sirens. Then I notice a little yellow SUZUKI on 2 wheels heading towards Maynardville FLYING! The kid had to be doing 100 somethin. But, the driver slams on his breaks and about flips right in front of me. HE about lost control of the damn thing. Then, about a mile back was the cop driving the suv and he turns around. Im guessin he reached the end of city limits. So, I kinda laugh to myself and watch these idiots get control of the vehicle and keep on a runnin. Im sure as I pulled out onto the highway these people were already to the Sharps Chapel cut off (exaggerating). They left me in a cloud of dust! IN A SUZUKI! No offense to Suzuki owners but seriously? The cops were flying trying to catch these idiots! IN A SUZUKI! This itty bitty car out ran the po po! But I just thank God no one on the highway was injured. Their driving was wreckless and uncalled for. And the next day I found out it was over GAS! I was like, "ARE YOU KIDDING ME!" Risk yours and others life for $14.03 in gas? I swear, people never cease to amaze me.

They have alot more charges than just stealing gas, felony fleeing, reckless endangerment and oh yes drugs. So maybe them being chased kept them from getting high and killing someone in the process.

they stole the gas from the shell station where all the cops stay .......... wonder why they went after them? guess the cops were embrassed by them. didnt want them to get away from their fav. place they hang out at, for 14.03 they endangered how many lives get real claiborne county. law enforcement is a joke.

Man dont be upset because you cant do what they do. If you think they are such a joke then get up off your welfare, foodstamp ass and try to do it better. Whats wrong did you try to and couldn't do it?
