Alcoa people really hate maryville football

I know a woman who has an Alcoa football player. She venomously HATES Maryville football and has concocted so many wild and zany conspiracy theories as to why Maryville has an unfair advantage (despite yearly lineup changes)that she honestly has trouble deciphering fiction from reality.

If your kid can play football, why not move to Maryville where he can showcase his talent, instead of constantly whining about fictional conspiracy theories?

I also know many people who support Alcoa first and Maryville second and who cheer for Maryville every week but one. The only advantage Maryville has is a numbers (Depth) advantage. Still Alcoa choses to play them and they play hard win or lose. It is a great rivalry. A kid does not have to move to Maryville to showcase his talents. Alcoa has had its fair share of success. It is the only team to win 5 state championships in a row and has placed many players into DI schools. Warren, Cobb, and Lanxter are all getting playing time at the collegiate level, many others in DII and DIII.

I would say that the person you refer to is the exception, not the norm.

Congrats to Alcoa for their 5th straight, and congrats to Maryville for the great run they had. For one day they were the team with the nations longest active win streak.

I played Quarterback and Wide Reciever for the Rebels, and all I can say is that the Alcoa fans are all just jealous of Maryville. They even heckled me as we owned them in a VARSITY BBall game. Puh-thetic. So what you won another 2-A championship, that doesn't mean anything anyway. You could never beat us.

Ok, so this is the real Zane Winders, and I want to go on the record and say that whoever has posted the crap above has used my name without my permission and said things i do not believe. I was in attendance at the Alcoa v Maryville game this year and watched Maryville get handled. Alcoa played smash mouth football and Maryville wanted no part of it. Sorry for the confusion, But like i said, i respect Alcoa greatly, and would not say anything that was said above, it was all an impostor that just typed my name in the name box like anyone could do to you.

So am i the only one that doesn't think GQ is as good as everyone says? Look at who all has came through MHS while GQ has coached. More than 20 kids have went on to play college football under Quarles (though most used their uncle's and aunt's addresses to be able to go to MHS without tuition [ex. Tyler Maples]). With MHS's easy schedule and easy region, it wouldn't be as difficult as it sounds to win 10 straight region championships. I am not saying Quarles is a bad coach, I just believe that he came in at the right time.
Oh, and by the way Mr. Winders, your alma mater should've been beat on Friday against Farragut. The zebras blew a call on a catch that would've easily set up a score for Farragut and Maryville would be 6-2. Congrats to the Rebs though for winning a game with the help of the refs

It was a great game. It is what it is. If using the excuse that the refs won the game for Maryville helps you get thru your day, so be it. Maryville is in a catch 22.People say 4A is to easy for them. Now at the 6A level, you say the refs win it for them. Dude! Did the refs win it for them against....West, McMinn Co, Heritage, Oak Ridge, Bearden, Catholic, William Blount?
