My Old School ....bar

[Life in the 80s]

Hi Momof4.....My Old School was the happening spot in Collinsville back in the late 70's and 80's. Are you talking about Alice and Jerry Klass...if so they are still in the Collinsville area!

Was bartender there in early 80's, also lived next door with Randy Cook and another guy (can't remember his name). Would serve the upside downs,,,, quarter beers and then party,,,love that place. Can be contacted at [e-mail] and will tell you more,,,,,,Neil was the owner when I worked there,

The schoolhouse was a lot of fun. Denny Deluca and Song Kim were the bouncers. Jake was the bartender, although there were more than a few over the period of time. It started out as a bar and then had liquor license problems and became a private club for a long time. You used to have a pass to come in. It was built into the side of a hill. The parking lot side was up the hill and the bathrooms and main bar were downstairs. The upstairs was a disco. the downstairs was just a hangout spot. The place had a few owners on record and maybe a few off record. The owners and some of the group got in some trouble for killing a dope snitch and disposing of the body, which no one ever found. That was later on after they had opened another club.

I wasn't old enough to legally go to My Old School, but I wasn't ever turned away. It was within walking distance for me. I was there a lot of weekends and almost every Wednesday night. I won a "sexy ass" contest there, lol, after participating in the upside-down margaritas! Always a good crowd there.

I remember the Rumbleseat quite well! I spent many a nights there. Luke & Bill were the greatest djs ever!!!

i saw someone get his butt kicked and then locked in the trunk of his own car in there. He was a tattle tale and the guy that did it spent 3 years in Minard because of that. over weed.dummies.

My uncle Jerry was a bartender there for years! He loved working there!
