Hi Momof4.....My Old School was the happening spot in Collinsville back in the late 70's and 80's. Are you talking about Alice and Jerry Klass...if so they are still in the Collinsville area!

The schoolhouse was a lot of fun. Denny Deluca and Song Kim were the bouncers. Jake was the bartender, although there were more than a few over the period of time. It started out as a bar and then had liquor license problems and became a private club for a long time. You used to have a pass to come in. It was built into the side of a hill. The parking lot side was up the hill and the bathrooms and main bar were downstairs. The upstairs was a disco. the downstairs was just a hangout spot. The place had a few owners on record and maybe a few off record. The owners and some of the group got in some trouble for killing a dope snitch and disposing of the body, which no one ever found. That was later on after they had opened another club.

I wasn't old enough to legally go to My Old School, but I wasn't ever turned away. It was within walking distance for me. I was there a lot of weekends and almost every Wednesday night. I won a "sexy ass" contest there, lol, after participating in the upside-down margaritas! Always a good crowd there.

I was actually one of the dj's at M.O.S. It was unbelievable how many people would cram into that bar, one would have to leave before another one was allowed to come in. I went on to D.j. after that at Mr. A's and The Elevator in Belleville---remember those niteclubs.

Glad to hear people remember My Old School...my parents owned it and I remember going there and having kiddy cocktails...during the day of course. We have photo albums of the night life, looked like fun! It was torn down in 1986 to those who were wondering..
Hi! My dad was the original owner, along with two other partners, of My Old School. When my father returned from Vietnam he and his two best friends opened up the bar and it was a three way partnership. The bar was a great success! They had it for several years until selling it...To your folks! Just like you, I have seen photos and heard the "stories" of My Old School. I was there, actually, from time to time, but only as a small baby. It was a happy time for my parents, their friends and many others who enjoyed the night life. Thank you to all for the wonderful posts and fond memories of the bar. For many years it has brought good conversation and many smiles among my parents and their friends when harkening back to the days at My Old School.
