That's an arsenal??? That amount of ammo and firearms is probably in a large percentage of homes in the rural midwest. Typical media slant against firearm owners.

Amateur reporter, using stereotypes to "sell" a story. Unfortunately quite typical in today's media. For example, what does lyme disease have to do with the incident at all? The titles of most news stories are ridiculous, and are constructed to cause the most sensationalism by using small facts to label the entire incident. Preposterous.

Someone should write to Jim Suhr the author of this story and let him know that his description of the suspects “arsenal” borders on sensationalism and is at the very least inaccurate.
As a matter of discussion I am thinking that this whole story is made up because the current laws in the state of Illinois prohibit the state’s subjects (citizens without rights) from carrying a loaded gun outside the home for any reason. And since lawmakers in Illinois are so certain that gun laws work and are obeyed that this didn’t actually happen.
In all honesty I am an advocate for allowing honest law abiding citizens who have the will and means to carry a firearm for self defense and the defense of others to actually carry those tools of equality and protection into the churches. Who’s to say that if one or more of the congregation were carrying a weapon meant for protection during this service that the gunman may not have fired more than one round in malice before receiving one or more rounds in righteous defense of the Pastor?
I am afraid that the more good that church congregations do, lead by a Godly man, the more evil will rear its ugly head in opposition. Our great Country’s founders wrote “that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.” Since these rights are given to us by GOD himself then why wouldn’t HE desire that his followers exercise those rights for the protection and the defense of LIFE?
