Dear Judge Hulbert:
I am so glad to see someone with local ties and long term experience running for Superior Court Judge.
I know several of your lifelong schoolmates and acquaintences and I've yet to hear a bad word about you.
You will represent our county with both an intimate familiarity and the wisdom that your many years of experience have given you.
I pray you will support enhanced "law enforcement accountability" in our county.
I ask that you consider the alarming rising statistics of police involved domestic violence in our county.
Police Officers are held to a "higher" standard.
Abuse in law enforcement families and abuse of power and authority stories must not fall upon deaf ears any longer.
We need strong and wise judgement in these cases.
Domestic violence victims who are married to law enforcemnt officers have no where to turn. They cannot call the police and the shelters won't except them because being married to a public official who knows the location of the safe houses puts other victims at risk.
Please work with myself and others to provide proactive police related DV education to local police departments and support a mandated Officer Involved DV policy for all departments.
The "Blue Wall of Silence" and police "brotherhood" still continue to protect officers facing disciplinary issues and there are many victims, here in your county, with no advocacy, help or support.
Sadly enough, most victims never even tell their stories out of fear.
This law enforcement "abuse of power" must stop.
I once had great faith in our system. I am disheartened and want to see more accountability for these officers who abuse their position and their power within their personal and family relationships. Thus putting fear into their victims if they tell the truth or call the police.
Having been a victim of police domestic abuse of power I plead with you to take an extra look when these cases are tried in your court room.
I would like to reclaim my faith in our law and justice system.
I would like to see YOU reclaim your seat as Superior Court Judge.
I believe YOU are the judge that can take an unbiased and honest look at these issues or educate your colleages when these cases appear for judgement.
Sincerely,
Supporter & Survivor
