On Dec. 11, 1993, 32-year-old Marysville resident John E. Burnside was found deceased in his home on Chestnut Street. He was found just 10 hours after he had reported that someone had broken into his home, and while the death was initially ruled a suicide, it was later determined to be a murder.

Rumors at the time were that the cops killed mister burnside and made it look like a suicide by suffocstion by a platic bag over his head.

I think the dude was in a wheelchair err somethin' and the arguemet was that it was not possible for him to been able to do this by himself. There were drugs and coke deals also rumored err reported. I remember there was an emptied safe found?

The local corner dropped the ball so to speek and the family paid for a nother autopsy by an unbiased professional.

The house still looks about the same there on chessnut a couple houses back from the street that goes to the trailer park.

Bart (Leyland) Mayes of Richwood 30 years ago.
Died in a house fire the night before he was to testify before a grand jury on drug corruption among county personel and local civic leaders. Very suspicious fire, no autopsy or investigation of any kind conducted. Bart had been in trouble before (minor drug deal) but had turned his life around after release from Mansfield and was about to name names.
