Too bad for you LB drivers... The Muni code 10.08.030 is not a moving violation therefore is not reported to the DMV or the insurance companies. My guess is the city attorney will remove it from the books altogether. This will end up costing violators in the form of higher insurance premiums plus points on their license. Maybe the insurance companies have Oropeza in their back pocket.

it is pathetic and amusing to see what goes on underneath the surface of things .. and witness these machiavellian schemes of "public" officials fighting over citizen's money.

like children fighting over toys.

they will never stop trying to rake in m-o-r-e taxpayers' money to help pay for their overspending and profligate ways ... overblown salaries, outrageous public pensions, abusing overtime, profligate city cars, overbloated staff... it is a sad state of things

So does this mean the City of Los Angeles will no longer issue tickets at LAX for not having a front license plate?

It actually bebefits the driver who committed the offense, because the violatioion is not reported to the DMV and therefore stays off your driviing record.

LBPD in particular was milking it, in their CS ticket writing frenzy .. revenue loss over the horizon .. this new law did not occur in a vacuum, but was brought on by the likes of LBPD .. yea, we heard it before about the side benefit to motorists

If Oropeza supportd this, she did the right moral thing, and bravo to her

It has always been about money and not about enforcing laws that actually protect the citizens.

Wake up voters the politicians are fighting for their lives. Who ever gets the money survives. States have for years raided city and county money and continues to do so to keep those STATE JOBS while cities continue to cut. Also we have found city, county and state employee's with taxpayer supported jobs making outrageous salaries and pensions that pay 100K, 200k, 300K and even more to some. Welfare, Foods stamps, housing aid, health care to the poor and secure middle class wage jobs, pensions, and salaries to government employees. The big losers are the private sector employee's who pay the bulk of the taxes to support this mess with their jobs shrinking by the millions which is causing this house of cards and government run ponzi scheme collapse. The recent budget will fall apart just like ponzi and pyramid schemes do when new money quits coming in.

The fair thing is all fines are divided into 3.

State, County and city each get a third of the money. or better yet cites get 50% and county/state government split the other 50%...Local control is always better with money unless you got crooks running your city like Bell, Vernon and others

you get it.the police are over paid, over pensioned, the only way to try to pay for it is to write tickets why do you this city has 900 police officers that do pretty much nothing but fine people.now with this income loss how are they going to take money from people now.the policew are your biggest danger.

It has not always been about the money, but in places like LBC and Torrance over the past ten years the traffic cops have been reduced to petty tax collectors .. at least in Torrance they still deter crime, but in LBC much of their shifts are focused on making their de facto quota and public safety suffers in crime ridden LBC .. much of Torrance is a speed trap, just a few weeks ago a TPD motor followed me the full stretch of Torrance Blvd, thought that since I was driving a new Beemer that at some point I would creep over 30 mph as the speed trap evolved .. almost every adult Torrance resident has been touched by at least one CS cite at the hands of TPD

Sssooooo...You think the guys giving out tickets are doing it because they want the city to make more money...wow... so they cite drivers so Bob's Big Boy can take their raises, talk trash about them and continuously demean them in the press...You probably think its ok to drive westbound on Broadway too...
