People need to realize that drinking water is the highest priority in the long run. No one wants to lose grass & landscaping & businesses, but this is already extremely serious, and could get alot worse if people don't make changes now. We need more publicity and information that urges people to conserve in our homes!

What irks me about this restriction thing is that while we are on restrictions we can look around and see more new homes being built!
Does this make any sense. If we are so short of natural resources why should they be issuing permits for new homes???

How is drilling a well to water lawns conserving water? No consideration is given that watering a lawn from a well in this drought could lower the water table and cause wells to dry up. Having a green lawn doesn't compare with a home having drinking water!! If the county wants water conservation stop the new construction until the drought is over. I am sorry that the lawns are brown and plants have died. Have some consideration.

Sadly this represents one of the plagues on our society in the United States of the Spoiled. We've had things so good for so long, many no longer recognize the difference between luxury and necessity. Many don't now how to sacrifice even a little during a crisis. Not all with financial means are like this, but most that are like this tend to have financial means. And that speaks more loudly in many cases with politicians than plain old good sense does.
(Notice I didn't say "common" sense. Good sense doesn't seem to be so common anymore.)

As has been mentioned before, it doesn't make any sense at all to continue to issue building permits when we're going through a drought such as now. The only answer I can see is that since 3 out of the 5 union county commissioners are all pro-builder, it's like having the fox guard the hen house. Their major concern is for their financial future and little else.
What we as voters have to do is make sure they get booted out come next election. Hopefully, more people will look more closely at those running for office.
