I guess you read your Bombing 101 book by yourself and nobody had to teach you anything. No instruction necessary.
That was theory and practice. There is more than one way to drop a bomb but only one way to heaven. Once you've got it, you've got it. It's the "ever learning, never able to come to the knowledge of the truth" people you want to stay away from, in either flying or Bible matters.

Which is also why you must always study and never take another fallible man's word for anything.

O&W, isn’t it a bit odd that there isn’t any History of the church of Christ you stand for? Prior to Campbell, can you find anything?
Daniel Sommer had much to do with hardliner types such as yourself. However, when he became “Old and Wiser”, he seen his folly and states his regret for the seeds he planted. Men like you are from HIS crop. He planted the hardliner garden and done such a good job that we still have a few crops growing today.
You can easily clear this all up by pointing us to some Historical evidence of the church of Christ. Be careful to not just look for the WORDS “church of Christ” in Historical writings as many other groups {who believed differently} used “church of Christ” in their writings.
Which church of Christ do you belong to? The one-cuppers? The non-indwelling Holy Spirit? Communion served on pretty silver platters by MEN ONLY, but it’s okay for women in the pews to pass the silver platters aside? Closed Communion? My point: there is much disagreement within the church of Christ. Why do the hardliners hide this? Do you think hiding it somehow makes you not a denomination?
Mac Deaver {conservative church of Christ preacher} now believes that one is literally indwelled with the Holy Spirit. Some in the church of Christ call him an apostate now. You know what’s funny? Others in the church of Christ still regard Mac Deaver as a saved man. Don’t you just love Unity?  Speaking of Mac Deaver, his Son Todd Deaver put out a GREAT book { Facing Our Failure: The Fellowship Dilemma in Conservative Churches of Christ} that exposes MANY problems within the church of Christ. Hats off for his honesty! You should take note and do the same. To this day not one hardliner conservative church of Christ preacher has proven Todd’s book wrong. Only one person attempted to write a refutation review but threw in the towel after seeing all of the proof references in Todd’s book. http://www.lulu.com/shop/todd-deaver/facing-o...
Yes, you are in a man-made sect – one that is also broken down into more sects. Deny this all you like but it will not change the facts.
In case you didn't know it - the church of Christ is the OLDEST CHURCH IN THE WORLD!!!

So, our church is very well documented in the New Testament. That is where our history starts. And as you know - the BIBLE PRE-DATES ANY BOOKS ABOUT ANY OF THE "MAN MADE DENOMINATIONS" (who call themselves churches)

All those "man made" churches are part of the "falling away" (of the Lord's church) we read about in the bible. This "falling away" of the church started with the Catholic church & later the Baptist, the Presbyterian, the Methodist, the Pentecostal, the Lutheran, the Jehovah Witness etc etc etc...

I remember sitting in Bible class in junior high school while attending Alabama Christian Academy in Montgomery, AL back in the mid-70's and hearing as much about Alexander Campbell as Jesus. Nowadays though, old man Campbell seems to have been disowned by them. Along with the King James Bible.
I guess that the "modem change agents" succeeded in revamping the Church of Christ to suit complaints about Campbell being the founder (he was) and the KJV being "too hard to read".
But they never seem to have trouble reading Shakespeare's plays in the original 1600's English. Funny.
I have never heard any Church of Christ member WHO HAVE DISOWNED ALEXANDER CAMPBELL!!!

As a matter of fact, the work Alexander Campbell & his associates did in the Restoration movement is proud moment in the history of THE LORD'S CHRUCH.

And, in case you didn't know - ALEXANDER CAMPBELL DID NOT FOUND THE CHURCH OF CHRIST - he & his associates simply RESTORED the first century church we read about in the New Testament.

I don't know of any church of Christ member who does not read the King James Bible!!!

But, many members DO study both the King James Bible and the New King James Bible & the New International Version of the King James Bible. I keep all three of these bibles on hand at all times.

All revised versions of the Bible are NOT acceptable for use - because some of them have serious errors.

That is why you will find most members of the CHURCH OF CHRIST ARE MUCH MUCH MUCH MORE KNOWLEDGABLE ABOUT THE TEACHINGS OF THE BIBLE - BECAUSE WE CONSTANTLY SEARCH THE SCRIPTURES & STUDY GOD'S WORD...

In talking to most people of denominational churches - it's like a college graduate talking to a kindergartener. That is the shamful difference between the knowledge of the bible by Church of Christ members & denominational church members.

THAT IS WHY THERE IS SO MANY CHURCHES TODAY. People just do not diligently search the scriptures & find the truth in God's word...
Therefore, they fall prey & are taken in by all these denomiational churches WHICH WE DO NOT READ ABOUT IN THE BIBLE...

Where are you getting all these idiotic ridiculous charges you're hurling at the Church of Christ???

Baloney.

This statement right here proves that you care very little about the scriptures if you seriously think that the KJV, the NKJV, and the NIV are all in agreement with the text. Look at Luke 2:33 as a singular example of the failure to agree:

Who is the father of Jesus? Is it God, or Joseph? The KJV gets it right but to read the NIV a person would think that it is Joseph. That would make Jesus the son of a human, fleshly sinner. Acts 2:38 is another one, where "remission" gets changed to "forgiveness" in the NIV. Things that are different are not the same thing.

What you are really doing, and freely admit here, is that you read three different bibles in order to adhere to the doctrine of your particular denomination. As a 70-year old man, you read the KJV and it was good enough back when you were a young man but then some "modern change agent" came into your midst and told you that the newer versions of the Bible spoke in a more "modern" version of the English language, and you didn't protest one bit.

The newer versions changed the word of God into a lie, and you swallowed it hook, line, and sinker.

William,
If the two scriptures you mention are the only descrepencies you can find in the New International Version - then you are just wasting your time trying to argue the accuracy of the New International version of the Bible. Below, I will explain why...

In Acts 2:38, if you will check the original Greek language (in which this scripture was written)- you will find these two words REMISSION & FORGIVNESS - MEAN EXACTLY THE SAME THING! So, this is a NON ISSUE!

In Luke 2:33 it's obvious the scripture is not talking about Jesus HEAVENLY FATHER - but his earthly father, Joseph. So, should the New International vesion read "Joseph & his mother'- YES. But, substituting "the child's father" (for Joseph) DOES NOT CHANGE THE MEANING ONE WHIT!!! So, common sense tells us this is also a - NON ISSUE...

Now, if you do not feel comfortable using the New International or New King James bibles - then by all means KEEP ONLY USING THE KING JAMES BIBLE!!!

This is just a matter of preference - because there is not enough difference in either of these modern versions to make ONE WHIT OF DIFFERENCE.

But, we have to keep in mind - when trying to teach the Gospel to a person who is not familiar with the bible - the two revisions mentioned - will just make it EASIER FOR THAT PERSON TO UNDERSTAND WHAT THE SCRIPTURES ARE SAYING. Of course, we also want to make the person aware that the King James version of the Bible is also perfectly acceptable.

There are plenty of other discrepancies. I picked those two because the NIV tells an outright lie with Luke 2:33 and Acts 2:38. It tells people that Joseph is the father of Jesus, not God, and that remission and forgiveness mean the exact same thing. Both NIV verses flatly contradict the KJV text. The NKJV is not much better.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it until it is broke.

YOU, are actually accusing me of being the most deluded & dumbest members of the Church of Christ to ever post on this forum.

This is coming from someone who has shown time & time again that he has VERY LIMITED KNOWLEDGE OF THE TEACHINGS OF THE BIBLE!!!

Who do you think you are??? From what you've posted on this forum - you have made it clear time & time again - that YOU HAVE NO QUALIFICATIONS TO MAKE SUCH A JUDGMENT...

The Church of Christ is not a DENOMINATION!!!

Oh, by the way - Do you even know the definition of the word DENOMINATION???

Here is what the dictionary says denomination means...

"A large group of religious congregations united under a common faith and ADMINISTRATIVELY ORGANIZED.

Each congregation of the Church of Christ is AUTONOMOUS - which means - independent & self-governed!

The head of our church is JESUS CHRIST. In each local congregation - Elders & Deacons oversee the flock & the work of the congregation.

We use NO other creed but the BIBLE...

We answer to NO NATIONAL OR WORLD-WIDE HEADQUARTERS (administratively)- like denominations do.

THEREFORE, THE CHURCHES OF CHRIST IS NOT A DENOMINATION...

So you don't operate under a common name, tradition and identity?
So you aren't a section of the Christian religion with its own beliefs and practices?
So you can't trace your history to Alexander Campbell and Daniel Sommer?
