I guess we can forget about any kind of intelligent conversation from you on this idea then? All those people visiting from the Baptists and everywhere else, do you grace them with telling denominational people to "don't be stupid"? Or do you save that for online, or after they convert?

Just to help you along, you said you baptized a woman who had visited a baptist church, and was looking for truth. When you get visitors like that looking for truth, do you tell them how stupid all the denoms are being? Or do you wait till they are part of the flock, or just save all of the stupid stuff for faceless online people?

I guess I can tell of all the ''former'' COC members, who were rebaptized in our Church , and received the Holy Ghost properly.

Since I won't take credit and toot my own horn , and say I immersed them into Christ.

I guess it would not be appropriate , to tell of a COC Church , with a Holiness Pastor. Or to tell , that this same Church , use to not allow music , in their services , and now music is played every service.
Where they used to observe the Lords supper , every sunday , and now they do not observe every sunday.
The reason I know of this , a man I saw repent and be baptized (according to Acts 2:38) and received the Holy Ghost (with evidence of speaking in other tongues) is Pastor.

Hmmmm , wonder why a COC Church chose a Holiness Minister to be Pastor and allow music in their midst. Maybe this COC Church , was searching for the truth, and found it.
I will say the Church I very close to where I live , and has been around over 50yrs.

I will be Preaching there tomorrow morning.

"The reason I know of this, a man I saw repent and be baptized (according to Acts 2:38) and received the Holy Ghost (with evidence of speaking in other tongues) is Pastor."

When you instantly got these other tongues to speak, what were they? French? Spanish? German? Russian?

Those (Jewish) disciples in Acts 2 spoke identifiable, actual, real languages, so what were you able to speak right after this baptism other than English?

If you didn't speak with other tongues , when you supposedly got the Holy Ghost in the water.

It would seem , you are lacking something.

If you notice , unknown tongues, with other tongues, does not mean a known language.

If unknown tongues, were known known tongues , then 1 Corinthians 14:2 , would say.

2 For he that speaketh in an known tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.

1 Corinthians 14:13 ,would say this.

13 Wherefore let him that speaketh in an known tongue pray that he may interpret.

Why would someone need an interpreter for a known tongue.

So in other words, you weren't able to instantly speak a previously unknown foreign language like the men of Acts 2 were able to do.

1 Corinthians 14:18-19 (KJV)

18 I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all:

19 Yet in the church I had rather speak five words with my understanding, that by my voice I might teach others also, than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue.

That is the point that Paul was making about speaking clearly in an assembly. Speak CLEARLY so that others may UNDERSTAND you.

My wife and see that our age is catching up with us which means driving a long distance to church is getting more difficult. There is an assembly of God church just a few blocks away from us. If it were not for the tongues issue we would probably go there. I have a younger cousin who is an assembly of God preacher in California. He became a christian in the coc, they would not allow him to preach because of a marriage issue-his wife was a christian but not a coc. Many pastors in the Assembly of God are not high on the doctrinal part of tongues but it is part of the package and must be tolerated.

Coc preachers have similar problems but can't rock the boat. I also have another cousin who was a one cup coc preacher, he has since changed that and is moving closer to grace-we get along great! And yet another cousin who is coc is moving much closer to grace, but he stays because of family and friends. He is the most educated member of the family-he holds a doctorate degree...

How can one speak in an known tongue, and unknown tongue at the same time. Seems you have contradicted yourself.

Do make assumptions , of something , you have no idea, of how it works.

If you spew unsound doctrine in English and then follow it up with jibber-jabber, dog-barking, and other such yelling, it is still unsound doctrine. But hey, everyone wants to be entertained on Sunday morning with a little clown show.

SPEAK. ENGLISH. TO. YOUR. ASSEMBLY.

If someone in your COC , gets miraculously healed , who gets the credit. Oh I forgot , you do not anoint someone with oil , and pray over them, for healing.

James 5:14-16
14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:

15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.

16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

Hmmmm , someone's sins can be forgiven by prayer for them. The prayer of faith , shall save the sick , even without water.

I see your shouting to the hilltops ,''I immersed someone into Christ.'

So let the little COC man , take God's glory.

1 Corinthians 14:23
23 If therefore the whole church be come together into one place, and all speak with tongues, and there come in those that are unlearned, or unbelievers, will they not say that ye are mad?

Hmmm, seems Paul was saying something else here.

James 1:1

Which one of the 12 tribes of Israel, scattered abroad, do you belong to? Because that is who that epistle is written to.

I thought that there was neither Jew nor Greek (gentile) today.

1 Corinthians 13:8-10 is Paul, writing with the holy spirit guiding his pen, telling those Corinthians that tongues will cease when "that which is perfect is come."

That which is perfect HAS come. The complete word of God. No more need for signs and wonders, or speaking in tongues to unbelieving Jews to prove something.

The Bible is complete and written down for you in a known tongue. Read it.

This string is a great example of where the doctrine of Sola Scriptura , the bible is the only way to salvation and the HS will lead you to the truth. Protestants trying to decide what Church to go to. See if these are familiar.

1. This one has better child care while I attend the services.
Yes but Jesus requested that the little children to come to Him, Matthew 19:13-15.
How can they when they are kept away from the services?
2. I like the singing in this one better. Yes but you cannot sing your way into heaven.
3. Mine has a better Sunday school. Yes but only if they teach the truth.
4. I like the preacher in mine. Yes but there are many likable preachers all over the place.
5. I enjoy the fellowship. Yes but GODship comes before fellowship.
6. I feel more comfortable with their beliefs because they fit better with my beliefs.
Need I say more?
7. The distasteful things like the existance of hell and other subjects are not mentioned.
Sometimes the truth hurts, but regardless of that, truth cannot be suppressed, Romans 1:18.
8. It is not authoritarian, and rigidly structured.
Yes but the absence of authority breeds chaos, as we have already seen in Protestantism.
9. Believe it or not, I have heard, "I like mine because it has a parking lot which is easier to exit".
How is that for an excuse?
10. Then there is the error of the heresy of indifferentism, a false belief that all religions are of equal validity. Therefore, it does not matter to which one I shall go, so I will pick the nearest one.

The only valid reason to search for a Church is to find the true and only Church, the one which the Lord GOD, Jesus Christ founded. We must not labor in vain in those churches which were not founded by GOD, but were founded by mere men or women, as Psalms 127:1 so clearly cautions.

There is only one that has existed for the last 2000 years. Go to that one.
