Marrs, the whole "Trinitarian" baptism thing has been addressed several times. Ain't in there, no record of anyone saying they were baptized in name of Father Son and Spirit. No one baptized in His name was ever rebaptized in the scripture either. Walkinginlove always mentions that.

Maybe you have other questions that need addressed.

Don't mind Heath. He likes calling people stupid. But he doesn't like correction either.

I have heard others use this term but its so not biblical. No man can PUT any man "into" Christ. Shawn, you simply serve and assist the sinner in baptism and it is GOD Who does an operation on him made WITHOUT HANDS.

<quoted text>I would have to agree with you sir. If anyone thinks this is simply an evangelical church problem they are deceiving themselves. This is a religion in general problem with kids.
Never said it was just an evangelical problem.

I'm always told how the churches of Christ are loosing members. The fact is that ALL churches are loosing members because of the growing secular mindset that's in our society.

Churches of men try to woo people into their membership with entertainment. Some, like the lady I baptized, can see through that. Honest hearts will.

I said don't be stupid.

The basis if that is found in Proverbs 12:1.

Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming the time. Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.

Calling someone stupid, or telling them not to be stupid, is rude and is counterproductive to what you are trying to accomplish. Solomon and the Holy Spirit are much wiser than we are, and Solomon didn't address that to an individual. It was a general observation.

You can do that if you wish, but it gives Jesus a black eye with people. The coc is held in no higher regard than Westboro because of stuff like this.

This is a consistency issue. If we speak where the Bible speaks, then we need to talk like it as well. The language of Ashdod I harp on a lot.

Is that you Regina? I wouldn't be suprized...
Being rude to Pentecostals , of which I am not of Pentecostal denomination.

No it is not Regina , surprise, surprise.

See , there is many people on here , but mone understand the Holiness movement.

People put me in a category , in which I am not.

One COC flunky , comes on here , and talks about putting someone into Christ (by dunking), and no mention of repentance. Seems , there was no outrage.

I guess , you're one of the ones , who immerses someone into Christ, and never mention repentance. Kinda like putting the cart before the horse (baptism before repentance).

We never hear of repentance from COC on her , always water based salvation.

"Don't be stupid" is like saying don't be wicked.

Does that offend you too?

Sweet mercy!

Mr Johnny Marrs, you assume wrong if you think I do not believe repentance is needed to be saved. And,i simply call you Marrs because we do not know for sure if its you or your wife when you post unless you tell us. If you want to be called Johnny or something else, you should change your user name so we know it is you and not your wife.

Heath do you prefer the word stupid over brutish? That's the KJV and others translation of it. Perhaps you like having a license to use that on people. It's not about changing a word, and this isn't about me or being offended. This is about what kind of message you're sending to people, and the kind of reputation the churches of Christ get when we do things like this.

It's not politically correct to use stupid.

However, it's biblically correct.

It's also not addressed to a particular individual either Heath. It's making an observation of character, not giving the ok to slam somebody with "don't be stupid". Using that as a comeback makes it even more unlikely someone will listen to your reproof.

*Is it enjoyable to have "biblical license" to tell someone don't be stupid?
*Is it a tool to shock people to get attention?
