Just looking the site over and found some real concern. Look down the page and read the post on hell and eternal judgment, which ends with this:

Eternal torment made sense to people in the Middle Ages. They were used to kings who banished and tortured people. This was what they expected from a king. And when John Calvin of Geneva, Switzerland came along, he decided God chose, before the foundation of the earth, which ones were going to be saved, and which ones were going to be tormented forever in the lake of fire, and there was nothing they could do to resist this determination of God, a picture that reflected the helplessness and harshness of life at the beginning of the Renaissance.

The second reason we as ex-fundamentalists need to re-examine the doctrine of hell is because hell is used as a last ditch argument to keep us in the fundamentalist fold. Nothing much makes sense to us in the fundamentalist fold, but the fear of hellfire keeps us in."

The author recognizes the need to stay with the teachings of Jesus, so why at this subject is he denying the truth as taught by the Lord?

Did Jesus tell the truth on everything but hell?

Hardly.

Glad you like the website Whitman :) There is a gold mine of info here from an ex CofC member, who has been with the CofC and found it out for what it is!

I read this post earlier as well but forgot to comment on it. Forget ex church of Christ, that writer is going straight on to heresy. Dangerous posting.

There is a huge difference between pointing out something a Church believes that may not be as they think, being defined as what God has said about the matter, but to think to say someone is wrong and then also disagree with what the whole of the revelation from Jesus Christ is - that is a totally different issue. As you say, it's heresy to teach against what He said is the truth...

I can't help but wonder how many people take the time to try what they have been taught to be true by checking to see if what they were taught is actually the truth He taught. Seems to be rare today, and fits with the end times that people will not endure sound doctrine.

If that's the best of who cuts down the CoC, the CoC doesn't have much to fear from them:-)

Those who left the church of Christ must now be in the true church.

Please give the contact info of the true church and the BIBLICAL reasons that it's the true church.

Thanks

Royse City Church of Christ and Martinsville Church of Christ aren't churches, period. You've some gall to accuse others of not being in the true church.

You could contact the Holy Spirit that indwells all believers. But you can't because you don't believe in the Holy Spirit. You think it went away with the Bible. And you don't believe the Bible very good either.

Heath-72 you can't tell us how the Church of Christ you're in is the true church.

Instead of telling everyone else how they are wrong, you have to tell us how your church is right.

So answer that. Answer for the church you're in.

If we are doimg the things that the new testament authorizes then we are the true church. We are practicing as the pattern in the new testament is laid out.

Is there something in particular you have a problem with that we are doing that you think is unscriptural?

You have made what is described into authorized. Then you made authorized into what is mandatory. Then you made mandatory into a mortal sin to go against.

You are putting burdens of legalism on people when Jesus said He came to take burdens from us.

That is why you are not in the true church.

I will ask the question again. What in particular are you having problem with? Maybe we could have a discussion about it. You can show us from the bible where we are in error. We could come to an agreement about a subject and a proposition then discuss it. But as with most of the people on here I am thinking you probably dont want that you just want to slander and hate johny robertson and other of Gods people.
