Johnny's church has been promoting a Church of Christ book called Muscle And A Shovel. If you call their shows they offer free copies.

But Muscle And A Shovel is not cheap. It costs $16 per copy. Many or most Christian books are less. What is going on?

Johnny Robertson's sect of Church of Christ is buying Muscle And A Shovel in bulk and trying to give them away for free. I know for fact that a lot of their money lately has gone to buy as many copies of Muscle And A Shovel that they can. I also know that Johnny's kind are spamming Amazon with glowing reviews of Muscle And A Shovel. 440 reviews, 5 stars from 404 of them.

They are doing what L. Ron Hubbard's followers long have done to keep their master's books on the bestseller lists.

L. Ron Hubbard would be envious of what Johnny and Mark and Micah and James are doing with their Church of Christ book.

Even the review makes no sense..?

Either you won't want to share it with your friends, or you'll want to douse it with gasoline and burn it? That's TWO negatives, and in this case it doesn't make a possitive!;-)

Probably sells best in Texas and Tenn. Thats where 1/2 of the worlds COCers live.

I wonder why God picked out those 2 states and waited until 1800 to start his Church.

Do you people hate this Johnny guy so much that even a book written by another man has to get mocked? A curious title? When you use mental muscle and shovel past the garbage out there propagated by the catholics, baptists, and the community churches you will find the true church bought with Christ's blood and the salvation offered by God. You make vague remarks like why did God pick out those two states? 1800? What in the world does that mean? You my friend are totally confused and confusing. The book is written by Mike Shanks, not Johnny Robertson. I'm pretty sure that Mike Shanks has never met Johnny Robertson. Of course I would completely understand your opposition to the book if you are baptist preachers or priests or preachers at community churches because this book, if read objectively, will convert those who are in your churches to the real church, started in AD 33, and bought with the blood of Jesus Christ. Imagine the money you would lose!!!

So you say the bible isn't good enough to convert people. You say this Muscle and a Shovel will convert. Isn't the Church of Christ not supposed to have any extra manuals or books? That's what they accuse Methodists and Baptists of having.

Ed, you have been duped. The CoC preaches Paul, not the doctrine of Jesus Christ or discipleship to Jesus Christ. They teach ordinances and offices as set out by Paul and then pretend to think they please God by hearing Paul.

Are you in Mt. Union? Maybe someday we can arrange to discuss in person, as I'm just outside of Canton.

Jesus said to make disciples of Him, immerse them in the Name, and teach them to keep the same commandments/teachings He gave the original twelve. Nothing has changed from that day.

For me to even consider believing this I would first have to believe that the entire Bible is not the inspired word of God. Good luck convincing me of that.

You are being impolite. You shouldn't try to redirect when you are the one in the spotlight. Answer properly.

Typical answer from you my friend. I never said the Bible isn't good enough to convert people. I do understand that you will continue to try and make me out as foolish since you yourself are not comfortable with whatever it is you believe. You answer properly this question. Are you a believer or an atheist?

That's the usual stance. My brothers, two are CoC preachers, take the same view - if we can't believe what we have in the NT is true, how are we to believe anything else in the Bible is true?
Paraphrased, but equivalent.

The Bible we have has come down through many translations from the Hebrew...centuries of issues - putting the NT aside - are you aware of the textual issues Jewish scholarship has with the Greek translation of the OT?

If we believe God cannot lie and always stays true to His word - this is a test that is easily put to the test when determining bad OT mistranslations. In the NT, the AENT answers many of the bad translations as well....

Or you could just say you only believe the KJV because you believe old King James was God's sole representative on earth when he approved of the text:-), but then, we don't even use that in the current KJV;-)

Read this book during my sabbatical. It is complete garbage. Hard line coc nonsense at its worst. Will convert someone not paying attention to the coc but not to Christ.

Yeah you would like it. A whole bunch about how instrumental music is of the devil. The main guy worried about dying on the way to the church to be baptized, because he'd go to hell for not getting to the water soon enough. The evil Baptists. Your kind of book it is.

Really hmm So ok for baptist to say someone is ok even if they are not? Are you going to the Baptist belief yet Dave?

Do you, me, the Baptist church, the coc, or anyone else have the right or knowledge to tell someone they are OK? How would we know-do we know the heart? Or only God?

A person can follow the letter, "do everything right"and yet still be lost because of the heart. Would you agree?

No I'm not baptist nor attending a baptist church. I will never be a baptist, but have no objections to going there or saying they are my brethren.

I will never set foot again in a non instrumental church of Christ however unless its a funeral or wedding. Had enough of that lie.
