Greetings to all.I asked a while back if the Church of Christ is a denomination, and I think it has been shown that yes they are a denomination that was created by Alexander Campbell. Though they will deny this, there is just too much historical evidence on the internet to prove that they are the very thing they accuse denominations of...their group was started by a man with his own particular doctrine that has evolved to what it is today, thus man made denomination! Consider this website for further study for those seeking the truth...

If the Church of Christ wasn't a cult why would there be a need for a support group?

If denominations aren't cults, then why would there be a need for an exchristian support group?

Yes, some churches of Christ are cults, and many others borderline. However there are many good ones also...

It makes no difference since god is imaginary...just another cult to take money from the public so the preachers don't have to get a real job...oh...and have access to your susceptible women and children.

Did an ex-baptist support group - yahoo search - and guess what came up?
1. ex-church of Christ support group
2.ex- Mormon support group
3.ex-Jehovah's Witnesses support group
4.ex- cult support group
I'm starting to see a pattern here, cults brainwash you so much you need a support group to get back to reality. So Joey there's a support group for you when your ready to admit that you've been brainwashed.

I did the same thing Bill, you are right.

Type in "the lords church" and see what you get? The coc have developed a language all of it's own for the purpose of separating themselves from other christians.

They never use the word saved like this: "we had three people saved last night". They will always say this: "we had three baptisms last night".

The words pastor, alter call, revival etc have been changed...

Drop the cult stuff. Most cocs arent cults, just like most other religious groups arent cults. There are always gonna be nutjobs in every aspect of life. And I tell you, I think for myself. Not been brainwashed.

There are good honest people in the coc, just like the ones in whatever group you guys are part of.

As far as "language" goes, most differences there are doctrinal. Ex- no altar call in NT; pastor-term for elders not the preacher. To be honest, I dont get changing revival to "gospel meeting".

Hey Bill, why dont you take a stab at Santa's comment? Santa thinks you are a cult. Your pastor doesn't have a real job and you are brainwashed enough to let him take your women and children

I prefer "obey the gospel" to "got saved" or "got baptized".

I dont mind the term "Lords church" because there is only one church and its His.

The biggest problem w/terms are the way some twist them around and use them. But in that same spirit, throwing the term cult at people doesnt help anyones cause.

Do you think it helps to win over JW's or Mormons by calling them cultists? But then again, this thread seems to be more of an attack than info.

Everybody, remember who the enemy really is. Go back and read Ephesians 6:11-12.

Yeah I know what you mean. You don't join the church "you're added to" the church, that makes it sound like the first church in the book of Acts. It's all about image.People back in the 1800's first coined the term "Campbellites" for their church which puts them in their true light.Man made and just another denomination with their own doctrine & theology. Many peaceful, God loving CoC churches around, but the ones in our area run by Johnny Robertson keeps something stirred up all the time.Found a good website that ask, "does Johnny glorify God?

Can I ask a serious question? This Johnny Robertson- is he some kind of dominant personality guy?

Seems like most of you have more beef w/him than the coc in general.

Hey use you head, I already know that there is no one in the coc who dares refer to their elders as pastor and you know it too. If you can't take the heat get out of the kitchen. My statements are clear and they are correct. Many coc's are an exclusive group and their changing of the language proves it... Here is another example it the link is not to long.

I don't personally know him, but have seen some of his video clips. He is on the extreme edge and groups like his are few in number. However his ideology comes from the same roots as all coc legalist. It's sorta like drinking beer and light beer.
