Once again the prots ignore the premise of this thread, that the CofC predates Alexander Campbell.

If it did why did Campbell find it necessary to create the Church of Christ denomination and even supply it with his own doctored version of the New Testament?

No answers. They only come up with more Catholic bashing. They even cite Christian history texts which contain not one syllable about the Church of Christ. Cracks me up!

And one of the prots is even ashamed to say what church he/she belongs to but has plenty to say about the Catholic Church.

You first: you assume everyone here is “cofC”...

Second mistake: you think we care about Alexander Campbells teachings

Third mistake: there is no mention of the Catholic Church in the Bible. No popes. No Mass. No Mary worship. No kissing statues of saints. No praying to Saints. No confession booths. YOUR CHURCH simply is NOT in the Bible.

So why are you spending so much of your time in a thread which is supposed to be about Alexander Campbell and the Church of Christ? The fact is you never miss an opportunity to bash Catholics and you do it so predictably and poorly.

Dude you need to go to Catholic bashing school. You are really bad at it.

Since all prot denominations were created by a man or a woman and you don't care for Alexander Campbell, who made up yours? Don't bother telling us it's the one found in the Bible because we all know that's a lie. Chances are great you made it up yourself, just one of 40,000 who did the same thing.

Why? Because I find Alexander Campbell, the claims and the history of the CofC denomination fascinating and obviously know more about the subject than you. I spent many years in CofC churches listening to preachers and teachers but, unlike you, was never stupid enough to join one.

Mark, how does Scripture equip you to teach the doctrine of the infallibility of the Pope, in light of 2 Timothy 3:16-17 that says Scripture is able to thoroughly equip the man for every good work. How does Scripture equip you to teach this doctrine and other man-made doctrines you promote?

Tell you what: can a person read the Bible and come to saving faith? Can one read Acts and grasp an understanding how one is forgiven?

Now, answer this: can you find Mary worship, Praying to Saints, Papal Infallibility, The Immaculate Conception, the Bodily Assumption of Mary, in the Bible?

Maybe you do not need a Bible. Just stick to sacred tradition and man-made doctrines.

catholic don't know that it is man made. They believe it is scripture because the pope says it is scripture which the pope claim is authorized to do within the CC. Again, the people will listen to what the pope says and not what the book says. Hey, what do you think maybe like you say, Do I need my Med. HA HA HA HA. The day you understand that religion and science are one and the same, then maybe, just maybe you'll understand who man kind is. "Let US make man in OUR image" Who the hell is US and OUR. E=MC2

Once folks understand that the bible is nothing more then how to lead clean, healthy and moral lives. This does not get you to "heaven". No where in the Bible does it say that we go to heaven when we die. Think about this. If this was true, why did Jesus cry and mourn for Lazarius and then bring him back to life. Why would Jesus mourn if he is in heaven, and also bring him back if he was in heaven, why would he want come back to pain and suffering. What jesus taught was the "rebirth" of mankind and the loving lives that one day ww will live. This is when we know what "truth" is. Then some parts of mankind will want the "old ways". This is the "FINAL JUDGEMENT". God will say, Sorry, this time you understood the "truth". There is no more second chance. "And I saw a New heaven and a new earth'. How many people here really thought the the world was to end 12/21/12. The book says nobody knows when, not even the beings in heaven know. How much of the bible prophecy has happen. The 3rd temple, when is that be be build. Oh, what am I talking about, I must be off my med. HA HA HA HA. Right Mark, Right Mike, HA HA HA. You two are typical Cathoilcs. Afraid to read the bible, afraid to learn what can be your and the joy of knowing mankind will live in peace and harmony with the "family " universe.

This isnt hard. The coc in England predates Campbell. Some of them were actually Anabaptists I believe. The Campbell family may have been influenced by religious movements there before coming to America.

Once here Campbell was in close contact with Baptist groups before really starting the RM. And being in rural areas, the "worship spaces" would be very similar and simple.

I don't really believe the idea that the coc we know actually comes from across the pond. It is mainly an American movement.

Remember the words of Jesus himself, "The Kingdom of God is at Hands" Also in the Lord's Prayer, Thy Kingdom come thy will be done ON EARTH has it is in heaven". The belief of when we die and go to heaven or hell is a Roman Pagan belief that was carried over to the CC

Why are you here? You get your rocks off bashing Catholics with the rest. It took a Catholic to teach you a really major fact about Alexander Campbell even though you claim to have studied him for years.

Maybe instead of getting mad, you should go and read the book and history books. For some reason, you and Mike just keep your head in the sand and after the look up what is being said here. Faith is very important, but when faith can move mountain, think about what Jesus said. THINK E=MC2. OH, please, forgive me I need to take my med. HA HA HA HA E=MC2.

I would like to add that both Campbell and his father both came from the Scottish Presbyterian denomination.

In close contact with Baptists? He was a Baptist. The CofC denomination does not predate Alexander Campbell anywhere but the KJV New Testament certainly does. Campbell's motto: where the Bible speaks, we speak; where the Bible is silent, we are silent; where the New Testament has words we don't like we change or leave them out. Your comment about rural areas and worship spaces is quite naive. Episcopal, Presbyterian, Methodist and Lutheran churches were built across the rural South and didn't look a thing like a Baptist church inside. Let's for a moment overlook that so what is today's excuse for the CofC to look just like a Baptist church inside and even follow the same order of worship as do Baptists? Campbell not only published his own New Testament but also a paper called "The Christian Baptist!"
