Maybe they should have just thrown the kid to the ground and broken his arm or something--maybe his neck. You;d all be SO much happier.
As for the chief's actions--regardless of the circumstances, you don't throw your men under the bus before investigating the circumstances. That goes for any profession or job, not just the police. If there is police violence all over town, it is the FAULT of the chief; it's his job to act when these things occur. If there was concern over the tasers, it was his duty to take them from the officers or establish guidelines for their use.
What you fail to realize is that these officers have been taze crazy since they've been given the equipment. It's like a new toy to them. They don't have any regulations on how to use them or when to use them they just use them when they want. Don't be so quick to judge the actions of the chief until you've lived here and witnessed. There is police violence all over. You just rarely hear about it in the small town. I love this small town and it's a shame that we have yet another stigma to now overcome.
