I did that with my basketball once. We were at a playground and had more than one ball. So my ball was laying there and someone stole it. About 1 month later, some kids were playing a game there and my ball was lying there and I stole it back.

By the time they figured out that the machine had not been filled, it was too late to change plans. Now, they will have to lay low until the heat is off. But, we'll be ready.
