Vallejo local politics PAC launches fundraising campaign
http://www.timesheraldonline.com/news/ci_2552...

The political action committee "Citizens for Vallejo" is hosting a fundraiser Friday with an eye on future school board and city council elections.

The PAC formed in 2011 and has endorsed or opposed various ballot measures and mayoral and city council candidates. In 2011, it opposed the city's 1 percent sales tax but supported the tax on medical marijuana dispensaries -- both of which passed.

Three current council members were also endorsed by the committee: Robert McConnell, Bob Sampayan and Katy Miessner.

The committee's board of directors includes Miessner, Greater Vallejo Recreation District trustee Karol Heppe and former Councilwoman Marti Brown.

The same group was part of a PAC that supported the repeal of Vallejo's binding arbitration process for labor negotiations in 2010, Brown said.

According to Brown, the committee hopes to raise up to $30,000 over the next two years.

Friday's fundraiser runs from 6 to 9 p.m.

There is no mention of where this soiree is to be held. Maybe it will be in Gomes' "secret garden"?

<chuckle>Maybe Motor Mouth McConnell will run for school board? No?
$30K, huh? Haww-harrrrrrrr! You've got to bring a LOT more money than that in 2016, Marti Brown. We just need two at a time now to hold the GOB majority in perpetuity.
Prosperity is on the move, just say "Thank you!".
Praise GOB!!

this members of this group maintained that the election of the jump start slate would assure another bankruptcy. now it's clear that sales tax revenues are way more than expected, development of an international port, new office building downtown, north mare island, and increasing public safety staffing will cement another jon riley-led victory in 2016.
i agree that thirty thousand is hardly enough to counter the big money that will accompany a national election.

Brown and Gomes will be eating crow in 2016 elections. They predicted another bankruptcy with Jump Start, but things are getting better little by little. The most noticeable change is in the interaction of the council, everyone gets along, and no eye-rolling or gabbing while others have the floor. By the time 2016 rolls around, we will be showing improvements in a number of areas and they will both look like donkeys.
