What Miessner did to Vallejo
http://www.timesheraldonline.com/letters/ci_2...

Here is a list of what Katy Miessner ("Campaign 2013 starts early: First Vallejo Council candidate announces", March 30) has done for -- oops, I mean to -- Vallejo:

* Tried to kill the waterfront plan.
* Helped drive Walmart out of Vallejo.
* Helped destroy labor relations with her VIB pals.
* Opposed WINCO.
* Opposed the Solano 360 plan.

Five out of five caused a loss of revenue for Vallejo -- not a gain of one cent.

Is this the kind of person you want as a council member?

Katy Miessner is a political wolf in sheep's clothing. As co-editor of VIB, she represents the most hateful and divisive group to ever plague Vallejo with its presence.

The sole purpose of VIB's existence is as a revenge mechanism for a personal vendetta which got out of control -- that purpose being to destroy Vallejo's public safety unions.

Why? Because Kurt Henke, the former head Of Vallejo's firefighters union, stopped supporting the political careers of Joanne Schivley and Tony Pearsall. This lead to a back-and-forth war that included numerous lawsuits involving both sides.

In 2007 it all came to a head when VIB was formed as a political propaganda weapon meant to stop the election of public safety union-backed mayoral candidate Pamela Pitts and union-backed council candidates Erin Hannigan and Michael Wilson.

The method used was the scapegoating of the public safety unions as the reason for Vallejo's financial crisis. Personal attacks against Henke, former local firefighters union vice president Jon Riley and former Vallejo police officers union president Steve Gordon took place on the VIB website on a regular basis -- including insulting cartoons depicting them as pigs and rats.

Intentionally distorted salary and benefit lists were made public in a further attempt to humiliate and embarrass the hard-working heroes who selflessly keep Vallejo safe. The effect of this was the decimation of labor relations between the public safety unions and the City of Vallejo, and the eventual declaration of bankruptcy -- which VIB encouraged. Only now, after the waste of tens of millions of dollars on a bankruptcy that could have been avoided had a better climate existed between the public safety unions and the city management, do people like Katy Miessner, who openly encouraged it, deny that they did. Every VIB supported and elected candidate has done absolutely nothing for Vallejo other than to further the VIB goal with their continuing attacks against Vallejo's bravest and finest.

Since 2007, not one constructive accomplishment toward the betterment of Vallejo has been attributed to a VIB-backed candidate. Katy Miessner's election will only serve to further VIB's destructive goal and further divide Vallejo at a crucial time in its emergence from bankruptcy.

Excellent breakdown of the history of Schivley's War on public safety, and Miessner's role. The people are grateful to Mr. Kurshan for his continued support of our employees and staff. Miessner's jackass friend Robert Schussel is spewing more VIB know-it-all trash to our staff, scolding and insulting them while wanting something. These people are crazy, they prove it often.
Down with VIB, out with Miessner and Brown.

i'll give credit to miessner for omitting an endorsement from the wretched joanne schivley in her opening press release. schivley is proven poison, and a loser of monumental proportions.

She has NO background in anything other than spending money GIVEN to her either through grants or donations. Her experience is with the San Francisco Ais foundation whose money is derived from govt. grants or donations. She is/was (?)working in a job Gomes got her in "Grants Management" for the forest service. Her experience is keeping track of "free" money. She has no experience in creating jobs that produce something! Do not expect her to "mention" income producing jobs or industry for the community.

I would make a list of everything Sam has done FOR Vallejo but there is nothing to put.
Then I was gonna make a list of what Sam has done TO Vallejo and realized I don't have the time nor the space. It is safe to say hwoever, that Sam has contributed NOTHING positive to Vallejo, rather has tying up vital city services such as VPD and the Courts with his pathetic criminal behaviors and frivolous lawsuits along with threatening chilren and the elderly.

We will have a business friendly slate of candidates to SAVE VALLEJO in November. Gomes and her crowd have had a chance but continued the obstructionism and stole our tax money at the same time.

Sam Kurshan is Planning Commission material. He understands the critical need for business and industries, not community gardens and art with our stolen tax dollars in the PB experiment led by Marti Brown and, sadly, supported by 3 other members. In order to SAVE VALLEJO, it is vital to remove VIB majority in November and jump start our local economy!
Good letter Sam!

IS THERE ANYBODY WHO REALLY GIVES A HOOT ON THE COUNCIL? SEEMS EVERYBODY COMMENTING IS ON ONE SIDE OR THE OTHER AND I HAVEN'T HEARD ONE SOLUTION.
So everybody is arguing their side and wasting extrodinary amounts of time that could be in solution.
Move On.
There is a solution.
Businesses downtown.
Put that energy into getting new businesses.

Our perception as a crime-ridden city, not to mention state and national rankings, the Forbes ranking, rising crime two years running now, elected officials declaring our police as "grossly understaffed" yet appearing to do only band-aid service to it, does not give confidence to new business. We have to change the perception first. Some say the solution is more police while others say they won't make a dent in the perception as crime-ridden.
Businesses downtown? Not that again!

It must be depressing to have to write your own praises. It's for sure that no one else will Sam. You would never qualify as commission material because no one, even the people you are promoting, will ever nominate you. You have never been or ever going to be a GOB. Yelling about jobs will not produce jobs. If it did, you'd be gainfully employed right? Good luck with your imaginary slate.

And an FYI, Council members can't jump start the economy. That statement alone shows you aren't qualified to speak on anyone's financial qualifications.
