Hey, haven't you heard, you don't have to "languish". There is no need to expect or wait for labor unions to make adjustments. The ball is in the Gomers court! There is no binding arbitration! You have got them where you want them. If you are waiting for them to bow down and roll over you are stupid.(Kinda already thikin' that anyway) Quit blaming the labor unions. Do what you got to do and take credit or blame for the consequences.
Quit hiding behind the unions unhappiness with the past and proposed 30% cut to take home pay. Put down your purse and give them a Gibbs type slap to the back of the head with more cuts. When you finally realize a revenue stream should have been pursued along with labor cuts you can try and figure out how to blame the unions at a later date.
The Gomers have steadfastly insisted that costs have to be controlled first, then revenue enhancements. These should have been parallel paths, not in sequence. They just have no sense of efficiency they are so blinded by hate for the labor unions. It's a race to the bottom the way they are doing it now. We need some big revenue streams from whatever it takes to accomplish that end. I don't give a damn one way or the other what it is, casino, port, whatever. We gave them a shot and they did not deliver. We stood by and shook our heads as the Touro shills worked them. We stood by and watched as Hollywood Joe worked them. We have bent over backwards trying to let them get something big going but they just do not have the political or business connections.

And banker Joanne Schivley was OK with this approach, cut costs then talk new revenue. Wrong!
"What's the rush?"
There's a long list of Schivley's financial misgivings, starting back when she was all cozy with labor, at one time approving the same unsustainable contracts we took into bankruptcy. And she has the audacity to crow her financial expertise should be on the dais ONE MORE TIME?

(t)urd enragement!
What is with "concessions"? You do not need "concessions". The employees have zero control over the measure "B" funds (as was demonstrated by the PB choices and lack of a 'none of the above' choices). Eliminate the $7 million structural deficit as the majority council sees fit!

You sound like gutless wonders that love the power and authority and cower from the responsibility and accountability.

Employees have no control? Yet they are still trying to buy other candidates like your pro revenue pro employee candidates.
The "control" is firmly in the grasp of the council majority. Gutless wonders who love the power and authority and cower from the accountability and responsibility.

<quoted text>Schivley's financial misgivings? What about Sunga, Ozzie, Willson, Hannigan, and Barte's vote to give raises to Managers and cops despite being in bankruptcy and creating the $7 million dollar structural deficit that exists today with less staff?

It was OK with the voters, Davis, Hannigan, and Sunga were re-elected after that. Bartee and Wilson did not make the cut for reasons other than voting for raises in bankruptcy. Sure it stings that your "new Sheriff" Joe Tanner and the bankruptcy attorney both endorsed the contract in bankruptcy. Then the Sheriff left town early with a sack of loot from the bank thanks to the sweeeeeet deal given to him by Gomer union haters. Joe juked you and lined up behind a fellow labor group, we stick together, always.
OBTW, when are we going to see the imposed contract on the agenda? Think staff is stalling until after the election? Could be.

Your memory is clouded again, the oozers fired Tanner, but could not change the terms of his contract and he rode out of town with a lot of loot. All ozzie had to do is to send him a letter six months shy of his contract end date and tell him he was not interested in his services, but he goofed and Tanner won.

Another loss for ozzie and the oozers.

Absolutely wrong!! Tanner's contract was for a specific term and required a ONE YEAR advance notice if it were not to be renewed AS IS. He was given the option to forge a new, AFFORDABLE contract with a different majority holding the reins and he chose to bail early, thanks to the generosity of Gomes and her husband among others. Stop spreading lies here for Christ's sake!!

Here is your linky and an excerpt from it. You were made of fool of, AGAIN!

http://www.municipalinsider.com/vallejo-city-...

The January 2007 contract with former city manager Joe Tanner included a $304,844 annual salary, a city-paid cell phone and no automobile allowance. Unlike Tanner, Keen will need only a six-month notice if his contract will not be renewed (Tanner had a 1-year requirement), and must pay 9 percent of his pension payments starting in May.

All this talk and for what?

The loathsome VIB sea hagdidates haven't got a chance of being elected. The only ones who should be stressing over it are the VIB freakazoid losers. The rest of us should be celebrating.

completely wrong! tanner had a one year notification clause and a six month paid early out in his contract. he was given the opportunity to negotiate a more affordable contract but cut and ran with the loot instead of helping the city, like they all do.

Yep, it was a sweet deal, so begging the question, why would Ozzie and the oozers be so stupid as to fire him?

Begging the question, why would they retain him after he recommended raises in bankruptcy? And he was not fired, he chose to leave early instead of renewing for less pay. Aren't you always crying about affordable contracts? "Oh, that's different!"

The legacy of that vote lies with ozzie, hannigan, wilson, sunga, and bartee...they voted with their authority despite being told it would add to the deficit. You oozers own this and Tanner played your dumb as' like a fiddle. You can;t hide this and everyone knows that you are responsible for the $7 million structural deficit. So bring on the next group of bought shmeless idiots.... Dew, Summers, Mal Gupo, whomever you like...you screwed up Vallejo and next November the voters will hold you all accountable.
