Anyone been into a J C Penney's lately? They are nothing more than a discount dollar store now.. All the good ole stores from the past will soon be gone. The quality of the merchandise they sell is the reason for their demise. Every store you go into sells the same cheap overseas junk.
Such a shame that we have let NAFTA destroy our way of life!

When's the last time "any" politician has stood up and offered a plan to bring our jobs home?

All we hear is, "We can't tax the rich because they provide us our jobs."
Well.... they haven't been taxed for 12 years and they still shipped the jobs to China!!

We have Mexican and all kinds of individuals in this country that would love to work in a decent paying garment factory. At least they could contribute taxes to Uncle Sam.

Back about 10 years ago, lots of people worked at these jobs and lived very well without food stamps or welfare. My grandmother worked at a garment factory and she bought her house and raised 3 children very well. I worked at a garment factory for 20 years. The factory shout down. The state sent me to school. I finished school and I am making 3 dollars an hour less than I was at the factory and I wish every day I had my job back. They sent my job overseas!!!!!

You are right. any clothes or items are all made in China, Thailand, India . When was the last time you picked up something made in the USA? Only things I can think of is fast food and pizza? People that have money do not shop JCP or Sears. That is why they are going under. they shop Niemann marcus and buy stuff in Europe on "vacay". Remember when Cannon made stuff in NCar.? Nafta sold us down river folks! Now they say things are so bad the illegals are going back because they know this is like a 3rd world country? There are no small towns with a good economy unless some foreign company owns a plant to supply a car plant.as we become more dependent on EBT and handouts we are being drawn into the world order of things. Freedom is fleeting.

10.5 Million American Jobs Have Been Outsourced

The “Great Recession” caused unemployment rates to skyrocket in the U.S., and even hit 10.2% nationally in October 2009. The recovery has been slow and extremely brutal for the long-term unemployed. The blow the “Great Recession” caused to the national economy could have been cushioned had American jobs not been outsourced.

Outsaurus is dedicated to exposing American corporations that outsource American jobs and the damages they have inflicted. According to the site, the unemployment rate would be 2.6% if U.S. companies did not outsource.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics states that approximately 15 million Americans are unemployed. According to Outsaurus, the estimated amount of outsourced jobs is 10.5 million. Literally millions of jobs would have existed had outsourcing not become a national norm and the national unemployment rate would have remained low.

Outsaurus provides information on various corporations and the number of people they employ in the United States and the number of people employed outside of the United States. According to Outsaurus, Apple, Inc. employs approximately 27,000 Americans, which are primarily in retail. When it comes to manufacturing, which has lost its strength in the United States, approximately 920,000 people are employed in manufacturing outside of the country by Apple.

Outsaurus also has a directory of corporations that outsource. Some of the companies on the list include Adobe Systems, Anheuser-Busch, Boeing, Ethan Allen, John Deere, Radio Shack, and unfortunately, many, many more.

Outsourcing has provided corporations with a means to continue production at an extremely low cost at the expense of Americans’ livelihoods. Millions of Americans would have jobs now. Unemployment would not be as high. Products would actually say “Made in America” in greater numbers.

The US would impose a reasonable tariff on overseas goods arriving on American soil by the boat load, then American manufactuers would return to US soil to manufactuer.
At present an american company likes to make there product in China say from 7 to 25 cents per hour and then return us the goods at a price that made here would result. In the process take the cost of overseas produced products and multiply that out by 1000 percent and there you have the market value we pay.
If and only if a reasonable tariff is in place then we could compete.
I don't know about any one else but that Chinese stuff is junk. Very similar to disposable products, use it once or twice then it breaks and off to buy it all over again.

Where you might not shop in 2013....Sears, Fashion Bug, Gap, Payless Shoes etc.

I remember laying on my elbows just pouring over the Sears catalog looking and dreaming about all the toys they had ... My mom ordered many of my school dresses from there ... and a lot of her underwear! And slips .... remember when a woman wore a slip? By the time the next year's catalog arrived the current one was always dog-ear'd but well-loved.

I also remember the Woolsworth Store in the mall. I loved their eat in diner. I always ordered their turkey and dressing. It was relaxing to just sit there and eat a good meal while looking through their windows as mall customers passed by.

A few years ago I bought a Happy Halloween sign from Walmart. They were individual letters on rope that spelled it out. Was having a hard time straightening out the rope when I finally realized IT WAS MISSPELLED - H A P P Y H A W O W E E N. For me, that said it all about Walmart. No joke! Didn't keep it but wish I had. Of course - made in China.

Oregon mother Julie Keith expected to find Styrofoam headstones in the graveyard kit she bought at Kmart for Halloween.
What she didn't expect was a desperate plea for help from one of the Chinese laborers forced to make the holiday decorations in brutal conditions.
The 42-year-old charity worker from Portland discovered the chilling letter hidden between the two novelty headstones when she opened the kit in October.

Plea for help: The letter came in a box of Halloween decorations purchased at Kmart
'Sir: If you occasionally buy this product, please kindly resend this letter to the World Human Right Organization,' the unsigned note, that was folded into eighths, read....
'Thousands people here who are under the persicution [sic] of the Chinese Communist Party Government will thank and remember you forever.'
The letter's author said the Halloween product was made in Masanjia Labor Camp in Shenyang, China, where laborers are forced to work for 15 hours a day without time off on the weekends and holidays.
'Otherwise, they will suffer torturement, beat and rude remark.[sic] Nearly no payment,' they wrote in choppy English accompanied by Chinese characters.
The plea said workers at the labor camp make only 10 yuan per month - the equivalent to $1.61.
The China director at Human Rights Watch, Sophie Richardson, told The Oregonian that the origin or authenticity of the letter couldn't be confirmed.

Hidden: The letter was folded into eighths and hidden amongst the the Styrofoam headstones in the Totally Ghoul product, pictured
'We're in no position to confirm the veracity or origin of this,' she said.'I think it is fair to say the conditions described in the letter certainly conform to what we know about conditions in re-education through labor camps.'
China's re-education through labor is a system of punishment that allows for detention without trial.
Masanjia labor camp is located in the industrialized capital of the Liaoning Province in northeast China.
'If this thing is the real deal, that's somebody saying please help me, please know about me, please react,' Richardson told The Oregonian.'That's our job.'
Keith certainly thinks it is genuine.
She said she analyzed the product packaging and showed it to a Chinese co-worker at the Portland Goodwill store, where she is a donations manager, and they thought it looked authentic.
'I fully believe it is real,' she told Fox News, describing how the headstones where the letter was found were sealed together and the box was closed with tape.
'It had to [have] come from where they said.'
The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations is looking into the note. Keith said she had handed over the box of decorations and the letter to ICE agents to help in the investigation.

Wallstreet loves this!!! More profit, but they say they can't afford any more taxes. They say its ok for slave labor, we need to quit crying about our jobs they will never come back. They say trade is good and we should have more trade deals. I guess so they can find more slave labor all over the world. If we keep on letting this happen we will be the third world country, doing the slave labor.
