Sounds like the original poster is right. This runs quite deep. Those of us in Dresden are watching this with interest. Martin you over spent on your park, and a lot of $$ changed hands, without the service you paid for. Corruption stinks, doesnt it?

Thats what you tax paying fools in Martin get. Do you really think they spent 7M on that park? Now you are getting ho-do'd on this "bank building". Your mayor doesnt understand that when he was elected, people didnt vote for him, they just were voting against the prior mayor. He, just like nearly every other one on that "board" never were successful in business in real life, but they do enjoy spending your tax dollars. Think about putting a successful businessman/woman on your city counsil next time.

The employees in the police department and city hall have been on top of each other for 20 years. They have completely run out of space. It is easy to sit on the outside and criticize but I am convinced there are some that wouldn't mind if city employees worked out of tents or worse.
The mayor is doing a good job with limited resources. What they should not have done is pay extra for the county jail. That means the citizens of Martin got hit twice on the bill for the jail. Many forget they pay county taxes just like everyone else. Then they have to use a portion of their city taxes to help pay for the county jail. Good grief!

they are buying a worn out building, and then spend a few more million to build it out. And what do they do with the old bldg? tear it down? make another eye sore in the nasty lookingdowntown? Why does martin need a full time mayor? You are paying 60K for what? most lost businesses? Can you name anything thats come along since he's been in office? The hampton Inn, thats it. Have you ever heard him speak? He doesnt get that he was elected, because the people of Martin were voting against Larry Taylor, not for the current mayor.

looks like original poster was correct. Big news now. Park director was buying items for his personal use, driving a city vehicle who knows where..and guess what? he gets to "retire" and not be prosecuted.

Mr Suiter has done more to bring positive attention to the City of Martin than just about anyone I know. He busted his A$%^ to get the Cal Ripkin tournament thats coming to Martin later this summer. Along with that tournament brings unbelieveable amount of tax money into the city. Kudos to Dennis for that. Hey thats tax money where they could build that new city hall!

I wonder what will happen to Santa's Village after he leaves. He has been the main one organizing it for the past 20 + years. SV provides food and toys to over 10 local service agencys at Christmas each year.

And now all this crap about him buying personal stuff on a city card and driving the City vehicle. Its my understandng that there was no oversight. SO Wow, he bought a few things that he turned right arund and paid back for. It didnt appear he was trying to hide anything.

And have you seen the "City" vehicle he does get to drive? Hardly a budget breaker there considering too that lives less than a mile from the office.

He is retiring because of changes in rules that will allow him to keep his health insurance. If he keeps working he loses the coverage. Thats a no-brainer.

Dennis is always looking for ways to bring attention to Martin. It upsets me that something that was not really a big deal was allowed to be made much bigger than it was. There would be nothing to "prosecute"

If Martin had 10 more people like Mr. Suiter, what a much better community this could be.

For one, ive never gone to a business to buy something for my employer, and accidently bought a TV or 2 for home. Look at the incomplete list of items "mistakenly" purchased. A home security system? The world series is a joke, and a major $$ loser. Did anyone mention the 40K paid upfront for the game, plus providing hotel rooms for RIpken officials, courtesy cars for each coach. The list goes on and on. 8 teams, most will stay out of town. Most estimates are that it will cost the city of Martin 75K, which they will never earn back. You also forgot to mention all the thousands of hours of "comp" time he turned into be paid for. He "claimed" he was on call when students went to Japan , or what ever, and demanded to be paid for those.

It is my understanding that every hotel room in Martin is booked with teams for the week of the Cal Ripkin tournament including the new Hampton Inn. Thats hotel-motel tax money. Those people will certainly eat while in town. Food is taxed in Tennessee. I don't see how several hundred visitors to a town over a several day period could be a money losing event. Plus all the media coverage that comes with an event as such~~~Somebody sounds a little bitter to me.

Mr Not ME: the rooms for each coach and assistant, umpire and RIpken official is PAID for by the city of Martin. A courtesy car for each coach, plus $150 per day, all courtesy of the city of Martin. Two banquets, food for the kids, on city of Martin tab. I could go on and on. You need to see the contract.

Well the hog farmer of a mayor that we have must being going to split the money in comp time that Mr. Suiter turned in since he is fixing to retire he has turned in 8000 thousand hours which adds up tp about 5 years worth how as a mayor do you let this happen when he is a dept. head to begin with !!! And lets not mention a trip to Japan and back through Hawaii that the tax payers of Martin also flip the bill for for our Mayor and the Suiters !! So all the stuff that he has stolen and used equipment while he was employed with the city well i guess consider it a bonus from your hog farmer Mayor that couldn't even do that right but maybe him and Suiter will take a nice vacation together on the the comp time if they bpay him out for it when he retires !! Look on the bright side it want cost us tax payers this time if the use his comp time money since that will be well over 200,000 dollars !! They are both crooks in the Martin City Hall that don't need to get away with this !!! Good bye Mr. Suiter you will save us alot of money by leaving !!!

Just for the record I am proud of the fire department we have.
It wasn't that long ago the fire department bailed Suiter out by building the nice soccer complex at the MRC, but no one ever gave thanks to them for building it, Suiter just took all the glory it seems to me.

As I remember it, they had some "grant" to build the building, put it off..prices went up..so not to cost any more $$ they made the fire dept go out and build that soccer bldg. Hats off to the fire dept, im glad suiter is gone.
