Do you just hand the weapon over or refuse request ?

At first I would refuse. Now I don't know what I would do if it came down to federal agents in swat gear knocking on my front door. I'm married and plan on having kids soon so the question is do I really want to put their safety over my guns? What am I going to go have a gun fight in my front yard or living room and hope my family doesn't get caught in crossfire? Then again a part of me would refuse to give them up...I honestly don't believe it will come to that. Not in the state of Tennessee anyway. The Federal Government doesn't have the man power to do something like this.

Just roll up your sleeves flex your biceps and say "you mean ...these guns ?"
Now this might arouse contempt in the fed heart, but you will win them over with your gentle humorous approach. When they turn to look at each other and smile punch-em in the throat and run.

Would not that act violate the 2nd amendment ?

Or how would the constitution play out if certain or key parts were removed ?

My thought is if the #2 amendment were to be omitted that would make the remainder null and void. Can't very well go back and wake up the dead founding fathers and say re-write it, and can't follow the law of the land based on 200 plus years of constitutional democracy.

Appears gun control should be left alone for the sake of all the legalities that lay ahead.

Ignorant people. The 2nd Amendment was not included by the "founding fathers". It was ADDED in 1791 with the rest of the Bill of Rights. See how that works? "Amendments" are CHANGES to the original Constitution. It's never been written in proverbial stone; nor should it be.

And, calm down gun perverts. No one's coming to "git yer guns". The gun lobbyists and the politicians on their payroll love to keep you afraid of that, though. It keeps you all running out and stocking up on guns and ammo at inflated prices. A smart gun owner would be selling them now and buy them back when prices drop again in coming months. It's all about your money, gun nuts. Enjoy your redneck, wild west fantasies.

The world's most successful dictators all agree, gun control served them well.

When the government comes for guns, criminals will still be armed and law-abiding citizens will not. Mass murderers will no longer have to seek out gun-free zones to pull off their crimes as everywhere will be "gun-free".

Once the government eliminates illegal drugs, illegal aliens, and illegal cloned branded merchandise, I will believe the government can eliminate guns. Oh, the government will have to give up its own weapons, too.

Get with it. There have been 27 amendments to the constitution. Just like any legislation a rough draft is finely tuned in this case that rough draft is commonly referred to as an amendment. The 2nd amendment is just as legal in all ways, just as though the original article was built off of. Since 1791 the second amendment has been around that's 222 years later. Now all of a sudden because some mass killing's have evolved it should be dis regarded. It is quite unfortunate about the disturbing shooting's but yet at the same time you just can not throw out constitutional law. I am not a gun enthusiast in the least but am a supporter of the constitution amendment's and all that the UNITED STATES was founded upon.

I didn't suggest it should be "thrown out", did I?

What I did suggest is the obssessed, violent, fetishistic gun nuts are easily manipulated by the gun lobby into drinking the profit-driven, paranoia Kool-Aid. No one's coming to "git yer guns". To the contrary, sane people worry about all the idiots going armed everywhere just itchin' for the chance to kill. Yee haww

Your correct you never said it should be " thrown out " but you most CERTAINLY implied it. The constitution should not be altered in any way, shape or form. The option always exist if you can simply not obied by constitutional law, then there are other countries suit able to habbitate. Ever heard the saying you can't change horses mid stream, same analogy applies to the constitution of The United States of America.

Nope. Didn't suggest it. Didn't imply it. I've got no problem with the 2nd Amendment. I was trying to inform the poster who, like many others, has a narrow understanding of it. Sorry you misunderstood. Maybe you should read more carefully and not try to be a mind reader.

Statement above states amendments are changes to the original constitution, that is not true at all only FALSE. For the record amendments are ADDITIONS to the original constitution. If it were a change you would re-word the original article that is a no can do. But in the bill of rights additional language is discovered to be beneficial so that is how you insert the additional by referring to it as an amendment. Not trying to cause a rift, just attempting to clarify a distortion in a post.

Women voters and black voters have tipped the scales and we are on the decline. Short term oriented people, fearful, gullible, uninformed. They've crossed over now and are on the gubment tlt for good. Hope it's not too late for the worlds superpower.

Don't sweat it. If we live in a country where a person can take out a student loan, promise to give the money back, and never do it, we should be able to work out some kind of program where we swear we will turn in our guns but really never do.

Don't get all riled up over nothing! Nobody is taking your guns away!
There may be a trade-in program of some type to get assault type weapons off the streets. There may be an attempt to stop making magazines that hold large amounts of bullets.
There may be an attempt to do more in dept background checks, to make sure mentally ill folks don't buy guns.

But, rest assured, no one is coming to get your guns!

Officer Justin Grizzle testifies to events shortly afer the apprehension of Movie Theater shooter Holmes....
With Holmes in custody, Officer Grizzle, a former paramedic, told the court that he then rushed into Theater 9, the scene of massacre.
"There were several bodies lying motionless," Officer Grizzle, who at times became emotional while on the stand. "I knew they needed to get to a hospital."
Instead of waiting for ambulances, Officer Grizzle said he decided to start transporting the critically wounded himself.
"I didn't want anybody else to die," Officer Grizzle tearfully testified.
With the help of other officers, Officer Grizzle personally took six victims to nearby ERs on four separate trips.
Some of the wounded were so bloodied, Grizzle said he couldn't recognize their race. On one trip, he had to yell at a man with a head wound to try and keep him alert.
"Don't f---ing die on me, don't f---ing die on me," Grizzle recalled for the court.
Many surviving victims or their family members in the courtroom wiped away tears. One woman shielded her face with a scarf. Another young lady collapsed into the arms of man seated beside her.
When he was finally assuming the role of ambulance driver, Officer Grizzle described the horror scene inside his police cruiser.
"There was so much blood, I could hear it sloshing in the back of my car," he said.
