What does it matter where he's from? As long as he does a good job it doesn't matter if he's from Martin for Tokyo.

What you expect from politicians. They just hired a fire chief that has no firecommand or management experienx compared to the one from Franklin. Good old locale politics.

Actually, what they did was promote a great guy who has served for over 12 years with the dept. that spent the last 3 years along side the former chief assisting with day to day operations and record keeping. He also has been the training officer for the entire department and brought that to the highest level that it has ever been. Meanwhile, since they promoted from within, they have created a local job by having to replace him with a firefighter. Plus, unlike yourself, the new chief is intelligent enough to spell correctly.

Not trying to take anything away from the job Jamie has or will do because he will do great things. The level of training is the result of the vision Russelll had when he was Chief. He fought every year against the politicians to keep Jamie in the training officers position and not be forced to put him back on a 24 hour shift. Russell did a great job as chief putting Jamie in a position to move into the position without any difficulty. Let's give credit where credit is due WITHOUT FORMER chief Schwahn Jamie would not be in the position he is now without Russell having the future of the department in mind to have Jamie in a place to prepare him to take over the department when he left.
No doubt that Jamie will do great but let's not forget how it came about.

I totally agree. That was not the intention of my comment. I was merely explaining the decision to promote Jamie versus the other candidate. Russell made his own decision to move on after doing some good things and it is now Jamie's turn to keep them headed in the right direction. I have faith that he will and let's give Jamie credit for having the intelligence and willingness to do the things that he did after being allowed to be the full time training officer. You did however, make a good point.

while i am not completely arguing with you....you need to give more credit where it belongs. jamie has been a fireman for a very long time. he is a geat guy, and has made the long hard journey to where he is now by his knowledge, work ethic and character. he is the one who has made years worth of decisions and sacrafices to get where he is, to get to the spot to be groomed for the position. russell is a great guy, but he alone did not get jamie the job. all our firefighters do one hell of a job. thank you. stay safe.

Jamie Summers does not, nor has he ever, had the attitude that he is better than anyone. He is very humble, and an all around nice guy. Get to know him, and stop with the childish jealousy !!

Here we go again, people anonymously posting crap behind a computer screen. I did not do anything at the Martin Fire Department by myself it was with the hard work of everyone at the fire department. Jamie helped me the whole time I was Chief there is no way some of the things would have got done without Jamie doing them. Please do not use my name to drag Jamie down. I have moved on from the Martin Fire Department and I KNOW JAMIE WILL DO A GREAT JOB and yes better than what we accomplished while I was Chief. Jamie is very outgoing and very approachable. He will do a great job for the community. Jamie will be the first to tell you though just like I did when I was Chief, he cant do it alone it is a team effort!!!

Good luck to everyone at the City of Martin and the Fire Department. Please leave my name out of any mud slinging towards the Martin Fire Department or Jamie in his new position. I am very happy he is the new Chief and wish him and all the guys nothing but success.

Thanks,
Russell Schwahn

I will come back and I will solve the splash pad problem and will take back over the public safety inside the city.........I will actually do it all as Mayor, Public Safety Director/ Parks and Rec Director all in one package to help save the city some money...... how do you like the thought of that.
I am calling Oran back as my Admin Chief and moving Gingras up to be deputy cdhief of operations and moving Jamie back to LT.
Rushing up to Admin Chief at PD and Brian back to head lawn mower at the Suiter complex
