This isn't the old wild wild west. Allowing people to carry handguns only causes more shootings. Statistics show that. Why in the world our legislature is allowing this is beyond me. Please call your state congressmen and encourage them to change the law. Together we can stop this.

Even the latest shooting in ft Knox was in a gun free zone. Wise up people. Ban guns and only the bad guys will have them

I got my hand gun permit and makes me feel safe having it when I go out alone. If you don't like it that's your choice stop bitching about it. But think about this you might be in danger some day and someone with a hand gun might save your ass. If someone breaks into your house at night what are the first things you are going to do? Call someone with a gun n pray that the person with the gun gets to your ass before the other person does. Think about it. People are going to carry a gun regardless.

To the surprise of absolutely nobody, it appears that the NRA has decided, through its various cowardly sublets in the Congress, that background checks are now a bridge too far in our attempt to pass gun laws that would make sense to Cheeta, let alone to human beings. This, of course, despite that fact that 91 percent of Americans say they want them, and despite the fact that the NRA itself once was included in that number. The organization apparently wants to keep a database where we can find everyone who's ever bought Paxil in their lives, but not every cannibal murderer who wants to buy a Bushmaster .225 to celebrate the birthday of several of the voices in his head.

Where in the world did you locate that statistic you refer to: "allowing people to carry hand guns only causes more shootings" ? Are you referring to criminals carrying or lawful CCW permit holders?Educate your self and review history when Hitler in the 1930's removed guns from Germany. Need I say more? Sure why not. In the wild west days there was this piece of paper they called the constitution, written by the framers of the US and they inserted a specific provision referred to as the 2nd amendment that bestowed that right to bear arms by citizens of the united states. All through Americas birth to present society has been subject to abide by the laws of this piece of paper that is now stored in the archive's. Now let me get this right are you advocating we should just start picking and choosing parts of the the constitution ?? If that is your position then we are in trouble on all front's not just guns.

Every dilemma has a solution. Here is your solution, pack your samsonite and move to DC,Chicago,New York or Md one of these locations will supply a new array of friends with a mind set such as your self. Oh and by the way if your held up,robbed mugged, car jacked etc. Please inform the the criminal that carrying a hand gun only causes more shootings. Get back to me on topix and let me know if that line worked or did the criminal just give you a strange look before or after you were assaulted???

the OP clearly doesn't live around these "minorities" who are the real cause of these shootings. I think the OP should go live gun free in the gunfree ghettos of Detroit and Chicago

This statistic is devoted to { Safety first }

Chicago has the toughest gun laws in the nation due to the help of legislation that you advocate.

Not a single gun shop in Chicago (outlawed)
No gun ranges in Chicago
Assault weapon ban in Chicago
High capacity magazine ban in Chicago

And the result of the legislation enacted on above items produced: Chicago has one of the highest homicide rates in the country last year with 506 homicides recorded on record.

Guns are not the problem, they are rather the tool to address the root of the problem.

Statistics show that more guns equals less crime....Your allowed to have your own opinion but we have our 2nd ammendment to protect us against minds like yours. The media just LOVES to focus in on gun crimes even though there are suicides, stabbings, cancer, and a million other issues that kill people more than guns. When kids start misspelling words let's just ban pencils... For heavens sake guns are not the problem...Ban guns then the criminals will just use knives...Stricter gun laws only affect law abiding citizens bc the criminals DON'T abide by the law thus it makes NO sense to do so!

If 91% of everyone wants more gun control then how come they are having such a hard time passing any of this??? Please enlighten me on this....

Also, tell me how any of these proposals would have stopped any of these shootings? The guns were bought legally WITH background checks. And before you say anything about the high capacity magazines the shooting at Columbine was done with a rifle that had 10 rd mags... The guy just had several.

Why is it for those that want to use England as an example that when the population there was armed the police weren't and their crime rate was lower now than it is when their people aren't armed and the police are???

If statistics show that more guns equal less crime then why is Tennessee the #1 Meth state in the Nation???

Isn't Meth against the law to make, sell or use? Looks like these lawbreakers aren't scared of your guns.

Time to go back to the drawing board and come up with another solution because more guns isn't solving the problem.

There are more 'homocides' on any saturday night in Washington DC than there are gun murders ANNUALLY in the UK.

I know where I'd rather live.
Not in a so called modern country that still think weapons that kill people should be carried around like accessories of your life.

Until you learn this you deserve the gun crime you have. Its your kids I feel for, until they grow up and become just more ignorant, gun toting numpties.

And Washington DC is a gun free zone. Get the point?
