I love basketball and love to support Westview sports but iam totally sick of all the sorry attidudes of the senior boys of this team and their parents. The suspension of Coach J B Suiter was given last week because a parent pressed charges for confronting him for lazy play on court, like ten thousand coaches have done this across america. But this parent chose to go to police and school board about this, for doing something( displine} that he doesnt get at home evidently, these parents will not disipline their kids and take excecption to those that do. During a Christmas tourn. game a players mother and father had to be restrained at game end. Screaming and yelling and threating the coachs for benching a kid for ignoring the coach at halftime speech, after being asked a few times to turn and listen was asked to return to bench. The reason this kids act like this is the parents defends their disrepectful actions. What kind of a message does this send to the kids? I appreciate the coaches and the job they do, but they have to walk on egg shells dealing with kids with sorry attitudes instead coaching basketball mainly because of their parents

I agree that they are dealing with some spoiled seniors but that program does have issues. Coaches can scream and yell all they want, that is part of it but when they throw things around and try to humiliate, that's wrong. And I'm not even talking about this current situation. All I ask of the coaches of any sport is that they remember these are not adults, they are still kids. Discipline, absolutely!! But be reasonable please. They are losing great players because of sorry attitudes of both the coach and other players who think they can't be replaced.

Glad it wasn't my kid. I think that mother must have executed a whole lot of control. That coach has had a bunch of complaints. Maybe its not everyone else.

It's not everyone else, it's him! He has always HUMILATED and talked horrible to any team he coaches, including girls softball. There have always been MANY complaints and Westview admin just ignores it. He should not be allowed to handle kids the way he does. Obviously it was a Suiter that started this thread and has his back because I guarantee you that if he has coached your child you wouldn't be saying those things. Huge control freak and its time someone stopped him.

I have no idea about how he is as a coach but my child says he teaches nothing. My child is worried about Suiters class bringing down everyones GPA because of the inadequate teaching that does not prepare them for the tests he gives

Guest hit the nail on the head! That person is out of control! He should be fired! He'll probably get a slap on the wrist because his name is Suiter. Yeah, he needs to be retired!!!! Get that holier than thou attitude in check and not make difference because of skin color, which he has done most of his life. Yeah, I went there! And most people in Martin know this to be true.

Please do tell me how he has made difference because of skin color. If anything he is racist against his own color because 90% of the guys on that team that play are African American. One maybe two white guys actually get playing time!

My son played for Coach Suiter and recently graduated. Yes, we are an african american family. He took my son's team to a memphis grizzlies game and gave them nothing but the best. Jb has done nothing but offer my son help and assistance when needed. I have had encouraging conversations with him. He does nothing but try to prepare the players for the real world. If some of these boys talk to their boss one day like they talk to coach Suiter then they will be fired on the spot. Any child that has a good home bringin knows better than to talk to their elders the way some of these boys talk to him. I have been to most games this year as a fan now without a player on the team and I can't believe how selfish this group of players are. Getting mad at each other on the court cuz one won't pass it to the other. More worried about how many points they score instead of if the team wins. Walking off the floor when one of their teammates comes in for them instead of encouraging them. It's pathetic to watch. I know my son's team never acted like this and never had any complaints about coach Suiter! It's embarrassing when people bring race into something that has no racial value but just uses it as an excuse.

The seniors on the team are a bunch of selfish brats. If they played more like a team instead of an individual they would be unstoppable. JB does have an attitude problem and so does his brother Eddie who coaches the Union City girls. They both act like their $hit doesn't stink. They are Suiters and they can do no wrong. I wish the whole lot of them would get run out of the area.

But yet both Suiters have been very successful. What were Union City girls before Eddie took over? Not competing for Gold Balls at the state tournament that's for sure. Somehow it is always the good coaches that no one likes...go figure!

JB and Eddie are good people....in spite of their parents. Westview as a school has spiraled downward for quite some time. It's time for some new leadership. Every sports team has had issues in the last couple of years, there have been numerous other discipline issues as well. The bottom line is the school needs an overhaul.

Bottom line is, you can't put your paws on a student. Its illegal to even make a student FEEL threatened, much less, make contact. He's been bullying for years. And just because he took a kid to a basketball game doesn't mean crap.

The boy doesn't feel THAT threatened because he's still showing up to practice and playing in games. If my child felt so threatened that I had to press charges on an individual, then my child would never be in the same room with that individuals yet alone continue to play for them. Anybody with common sense knows this situation is blown completely out of proportion. But karma takes care of things for us. I can't wait to see how this one plays out..

Yes. Really. There has been so much attention brought to the situation that the kid knows he's safe now. Future games and future practices don't have anything to do with the incident. It is ILLEGAL to make someone feel threatened, and its illegal to put your hands on another person in an unwanted way. So every other day or game or practice is irrelevant. Unless the board wants to use it to show a pattern or progression of behavior. Its not a black/white situation as someone stated above. Its a right/wrong situation.

Coaches should not be allowed to do things that students would be suspended for doing. If a student threw a chair across the room it would be vandalism of school property. If a student called another student out in front of people to deliberately humiliate them, that would be called bullying. If a student hit another student they would be suspended for fighting. Why are coaches not held to the same standard as the students. And maybe some of the players have bad attitudes and talk back, if so bench them like an adult and don't behave like you're a teenager too.
