Are they full time or more part time jobs? We need real jobs with real benefits.

Martin will make the cub cadet utility vehicle. You will also get some of the more "complex" cub cadet mowers as mtd bought the cub cadet plant from lesco, and ran it into the ground. That's how mtd deals withe the competition, buy it up, and when you can't make the same profit and quality as the competition did, cheapen the design to mtds normal standard (crap, absolute garbage but you have the market pretty much cornered) and phase out the plant that you bought.
You guys will get a stab at the uv product but when they try to sell them with the standard of quality mtd craps out it will be discontinued. Really though, I worked at cub and the robotic welding was a nightmare, especially the uv beds. With the price they want for a low quality peice of crap, count on losing the uv line in about 2 to 3 years.
But they will hire a few welders, robotic welding plc programmers, robot operators, lead positions, qc, and if you guys have a paint line some labor there too. Don't count on those jobs staying there as the anyone with a brain would buy a uv from mtds competition.
Also welders beware! If you don't like grinding down shiddy welds and fixing burn through while a programmer makes salary and you make 16.50 an hour to wipe his azz so he can keep a job, don't apply. Me I like putting a weld down myself and not having to earn another persons salary.

Smart move. From what i've witnessed, ex Goodyear employees have a sense of entitlement. Since thay more than likely feel that working at MTD is beneath them, i can only imagine how their attitudes would go over with the MTD hands. lol

I cared about mtd when I had a job there. It wasn't that bad at all, I would suggest trying to get a job there if one is looking.

Well we had a drought all year. Not much rain for grass to grow and not a lot of snow. You are really a seasonal employee until you get a few years in...

They have to move equipment from ohio to martin. It will probably happen in the fall or around the new year ( set up at martin plant ) but I don't know for sure.

I don't know what your yard looks like, but I am having to mow mine every week. The drought is over for us according to NOAA's drought report.

oh! Hooray! That doesn't mean mowers are going to fly off shelves first spring after a drought though. Takes the season a little time ya know, mtd shouuld be building snow right now and there wasn't a lot of that either.

probably if you only have a high school education, but most manufacturing corporations hire temps for hourly wage positions. I have a 3 year welding, cutting, and metallurgy degree. I had to go through a temp agency too but I was only a temp for three months while some people trying to get a job in the fab department had been temps for up to two years.
From what we were told martin never had much of a fabrication department, but now they will. If you know steel, you probably have a good chance at landing a job and not getting laid off, especially if you apply now because those new positions will need to be filled. Uv and log splitters would probably run all year. Good luck ya'll, btw the top rate for a welder or cnc operator in streetsboro ohio was $16.55 an hour. Not a whole lot but health, dental, and optical insurance. I wonder what those union boys got paid to make half of the production we did? I imagine they would peter out on giving you guys the same wage, after all, they did say they moved there to do it "cheaper". Probably works better than trying to see if we would take a pay cut.
